Anyone in socal interested in long destination rides?
Well as the title says, I do a lot of long distance rides and am looking for more people that might be interested. our typical ride is anywhere from 5-600 miles in 2 days all over dirt.
Next year we are going to do more exploring trying to find new destinations.
Me I am an experienced rider with practically a shop in my backpack. I carry a two way ham radio, spot tracker and enough tools to fix anything I need.
Post up here if anyone is interested.
I have a plated 650r and plated 450x.

That's what I built my bike for
So yes, I'm interested. I've got a few things for overnights. Am slowly pulling the whole package together. Refueling is the challenge I see now.
I have some ideas for routes, and I know some other guys already doing this.
I'm in Sonoma now but am moving to San Clemente at the end of summer.
I carry a lot of tools. Just started using a GPS (Garmin 60CSX).
Lemme know .......

I would be up for some a long rides.
The trouble is I won't be back to AZ until November. I have a CBR1100XX I bought in 2006 that I haven't really rode much to date. This will change in a week or two. My XRR is pickled until I get back. If you remember PM me and I will remember to PM you in the fall.
What size gas tank are you running on your XRR?
My XRR is also plated.

Why don't you send me what you got for the overnighters and I will see where I can help. I know these deserts very well.
And when you get down here we will have to plan a big desert trip.

I am in.
I have a well prepared and prepped 650R. I too use a vhf radio, spot, gps and satt phone. The longer the better as for the ride. I am a So Cal native and have spent my life riding in the So Cal deserts. I do regular rides in Ca. and Mexico.
PM me if interested.
I live in Orange county

Have moved
Am in San Juan Capistrano now. Liked San Clemente but the more we looked at it we seemed to see that it was 75% white and 25% very white.
I'll have to make a list of what I have. But it's not everything for sure. I have cot (too old now for a bottle of Anejo and sleeping face down in the dirt) and some other stuff. I lived in Alaska for three years fishing and have some stuff from that too. Have found some good ideas on Backpackinglight.com.
Am 50, except for 5 years in Napa / Sonoma, three years in Alaska, and two years in Oklahoma I've ridden the deserts of So Cal all my life. Started with Tote Goat riding Phelan in 1965. There is some great stuff north of Trona for example. Did some Baja stuff back in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Mostly family, racing and surf trips. Did the 1000 a few times and most of the CA/NEV dez races for several years. Worn out on that... No offense to the guys that are just coming into it.
Am doing some serious work now lightening my load with Ti tools and so forth. I combined the Team Honda race pack with some ultra light stuff I've found online. Also, I'm really much better about preventative maintenance.
Want to build a 2nd XRR that is a stripped down version of my Team Honda bike but wife and kids say that 24' Campbell daycruiser left at Mead, convertible '69 camaro, and beater 4WD IH Scout are ahead of that at a minimum.
Not really interested in going back to Baja on unprotected trips until things get settled there, and they seem to be getting worse. IMHO, there's nothing outside of the US that can't be found here in the West in some form. Am really motivated to take my XRR into some areas that are empty - got some places mapped out. Anyone see that article about BMW doing a ride to the bottom of The Grand Canyon?
