Oh goody, a noob with a fueling question - yes, I even give myself the shits sometimes..

Anyway, the bike is uncorked and running whatever jets they give you from the dealer according to the last owner. Im yet to strip everything down to check whats actualy inside but plan to this weekend.

Now it starts easy and runs smoothly, but it seems to be a little flat in the middle then launches into the top end.

If I had to take a stab at it, I'd guess is running a little lean in the middle then ...

XR650R Carburetor Fix' Go Back To XR650R Page

Remove the Choke flap with the spring off the choke plate!

Loosen both screws, then remove one. They have crimps on the end of them to make sure they never fall out so, they are a little hard to turn at the end. Push the flap down out of the way and put the screw you just took out back in with locktite on it to make sure it never comes loose again. Now take the other screw ...

I'm putting an XCR carb on the 07...Anyone got a good place to start for jetting for 1,500 ft? I just need to have a starting point and will fine tune it from there. Right now the pipe is stock however I got a Yosh muffler when I bought the 2000 XR this past Tuesday. The previous owner didn't like it, said it was too loud for his riding area...etc... What do you all think about the Yosh?

I am now reasonably happy with the suspension and gearing settings on my bike and it is only let down by the carb.

My main problem is that when the bike stalls on a steep hill it is a bastard to start ( this is the case when the bike has NOT been on its side). It is hot and flooded and finding the right throttle open/closed is heartbreaking. I also think that it stalls very easily on these steep banks especially after bumping it up a rock step.

Riding in the UK is from sea level to 1,500 feet.

My bike was uncorked two owners ago. I've concluded the intake manifold has been swapped, the needle and jets all swapped and the baffles in the air box opened.

The exhaust is a bit of a mystery. Definitely the stock header and can. But the tip has a polished turn down that I just discovered today can be pulled out!! Out comes three or four little various length pipes attached to the turn down tip. I also took out the guts and have talked with my local Honda guys. We agreed that the inner ...

OK Edelbrock gurus. I just installed a really low mileage Edelbrock QS carb. With some kicking, it started.

Issues:

- When I let off the gas at cruise, the idle will remain fairly high for 10-45 seconds, then return to normal. (Not a simple adjustment issue)

- Hitting the throttle off-idle while rolling produces a massive bog, then picks up.

- Seems to be backfiring a lot.

I bought it second hand, with like 13 hours, and the guy I bought it from had no issues ...

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody has an aftermarket header on their BRP that glows red hot after about 10 min. of stop and go riding. Is this normal with aftermarket, high flow exhaust. I don't recall the stock header ever doing that. I'm also trying to get the jetting set up for 6,000+ elevation here in in Colorado. What are you guys running at this elevation? And has anybody hooked up a tach to their BRP? As always, thank you sooooooooo much for the help and information!!
