There's nothing like riding straight into a cholla tree. Or at least that's what I've heard.
For you fortunate souls that have not experienced cholla, the spines contain microscopic barbs which dig deeper into the flesh as one moves. We generally use a large hair comb to pull the balls and needles out of our flesh, but it looks like the EMTs might need a long-handled rake for that poor gal.
I'd guess she was fine a few hours after the ordeal, but man, THAT HAD TO HURT!
