Help: caliper piston / brake pads Empty Help: caliper piston / brake pads

Post  Guest Sun Aug 22, 2010 9:16 pm

I could really use some help here. I am trying to replace my brake pads. I bought some new ones on ebay but they wont fit in the caliper because the caliper piston won't compress far enough for the pads to get in. Has anybody had this problem? Is there some sort of trick to getting the caliper to compress, like draining the brake fluid? I already tried bleeding the fluid and using a clamp to apply more pressure to the piston.

It is possible that the pads I bought on ebay are just too thick, and that the piston is compressed all the way. Hopefully I won't have to file down the pads so that they are almost as thin as the old ones! The ebay seller listed the XRR as a fit, and other than thickness, they have the same dimensions as the old pads. If it helps, here is the part number and manufacturer. NGBBP 15-131

Help: caliper piston / brake pads Empty eBay sucks

I've stopped buying much stuff on eBay because of all the counterfeit crap and the people who make claims that are exaggerated. I'll only buy it if I am 100% certain it is exactly what I need.
