Look Poli,

now you're talking!!!!!!!
A 450 is, here, on this forum, well, erm, just a 450 innit? Yeah it's nice, yah it's quick, yoo it's even a Honda, but it aint a Pig - and we're filthy buggers here, some okes are even known to oink in bed at times (don't ask, pls, kids read here too Wink )
Tell us what's done to it? Suspension, engine mods etc, this is the stuff we all like to read about, especially when the bike's raced. That rider has cojones, and if he's yer son - be proud!

Bike was completely rebuilt by Jim O'neal's (O'Neal MX) Mechanic and was set up for high speeds and major whoops.
This is my pre-runner and would love to race it but to be honest when you are going 80+ miles per hour over "big" extremely rough areas the weight no matter how great the susupension for great distances the XR650R is fantastic but!, the power to weight ratio between the CRF450X and XR650R makes a great difference. Yes the XR650R is a more comfortable bike and 10 times more reliable but when you find your self fish tailing whoops at 90MPH staring straight at the face of death you would want to be on the CRF450X for the simple fact that the suspension can take it much better. My CRF450X was built by Berkeley Honda one of the best outfits for custom baja bikes but! no matter how great the 450 is my heart belongs to the XR650R. I train on the 650 and ride the ^&^%$ out of it but race the 450 specifically for that reason. The weight is much different and the power of the CRF450X is extremely strong when set up correctly. Bottom line is if I had to sell one of them i would sell the 450 but I love them both. One other and probably the only real reason I havent raced it is because my other team riders are little guys and would not even be able to start it if they went down. Smile

Thought you might get a kick out of my PRERUN crash on my XR650R three weeks ago. I already made two loops of this section but just hit the wrong small whoop at the wrong angle at the wrong speed, plus I was not even paying attentions and was looking at something else. One of those situations where you say to yourself What the F^%%! Why did that happen? XR650R started rite up and we moved on!

Why haven't you up grade from the stock XRR skid plate to an aluminum? Does the aluminum transfer stress to undesired portions for the frame which will induce frame fractures/cracks.

REVENGE BAJA RACING TEAM Empty stock plate good question.

Post  Guest Fri Feb 17, 2012 2:52 pm

Good question. Since Baja is mostly light rocks and high speeds. I dont have a need to place a heavier plate on.
Neither my 450 or 650 have the aluminum plates. Since I try to keep them as light as possible I dont need a large bulky plate beside the stock one. If I was doing the "King the Hammers" races then yes I would place an after market stronger plate. Thank you for asking. 2 thumbs
