Getting the XRR Street legal. Empty BD kit

Post  Guest Fri May 11, 2012 4:01 am

Hey, very cool and congrats on getting the BD dual sport kit on! I also have the same kit, and will be installing it soon. How did it go overall, any hicups or problems?

Thanks for posting up the pics!

Getting the XRR Street legal. Empty Good work!

Looks like you're closer to getting a plate than me now! I'm STILL waiting on my rear fender brace from Manracks. Just a mix-up when he shipped but still a PITA.... Have you done anything with the suspension yet? You might wait on that one until after the plate as the fender extension might not be long enough for them with less sag. Who's doing your inspection? Exp. Powersports does it for 1/2 price if you've bought some of your parts through them.
BTW I'm still hoping to make it to the Dirtyface ride in Wenatchee next month with some other local guys. I heard that they will not be limiting the number of riders and you can still enter the day of the event, just no t-shirt....

Getting the XRR Street legal. Empty check list....

Shinohara wrote:On my check list is
-Mudflap- I like the one you did in your thread.
-Reflectors 2 front 3 rear
-install Vapor ( Might wait on this in tell after inspection )

PM me about the mudflap....
Why so many reflectors? Far as I can tell you are only required to have one on the back. The Vapor is cool I was really considering one but plan to just use my GPS for speedo. I don't leave home without it anyway so why double up on things that do the same thing right? Smile
I don't think we're even required to have a speedo (not the swimsuit!) in WA.

Getting the XRR Street legal. Empty Inspection

Post  Guest Tue May 15, 2012 10:51 pm

Just got done with inspection, $52 after discount for buying tires etc through them. Licensing agency $102 in fees. Don't worry about the reflectors too much, Tyler just sticks on some reflector tape to get you by and your good to go! Supposed to have in two places on each side as well as one on the rear. No complaints about noise of pipe and all lights and signals worked flawlessly. The Agency gives you a plate and tabs right away too. Cool 2 thumbs banana razz

Good day ! banana

Here is some good info from the AMA on state by state laws (mirrors, etc) if you travel or ...

http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/Rights/State-Laws.aspx

Seeing that your bike is pretty much mostly a street setup, baja designs sells some good passenger pegs but $$ pretty lightweight overall, has partial billet alum. I've got them and added/changed the pivot bolt with a bolt/nylon locknut...just passin on info

Not good for two heavy people that's for sure though for an obvious XR design, they also make for another tie spot if not in use for bags etc..

Make sure you bring your title when you go to get your plates, not just the registration. They can do it anyway, but it'll cost ya!

How do those tires work on dirt roads, I want something more street oriented but still work on hard pack dirt roads.
