Reserve Tank Empty Reserve Tank

Post  Mauser Mon Apr 29, 2013 7:10 pm

Yesterday my bike started back firing....nothing unusual there as she was low on fuel but still on main tank....when I got home I removed the fuel tap completly and only drained off 500ml of fuel....question is the other 1.5 litres which should be there wasn't lol. I know a lot of fuel sits on the left side of the tank and looking at the size it does seem possible that it would hold about 1.5 litres but under normal conditions and without having to lean the bike over how would the bike obtain the fuel from the left side ?.

Install another petcock and connect the 2 lines with a "Y" or "T" out to the carb input.

How did you attach the secondary petcock to the fuel tank?

Your missing the point, the book says 2 litres for reserve and it seems to me that you don't get a normal 2 litres without leaning the bike over to get the fuel from the left side over to the right side......nothing in the book reflects this ?.

You're right about that...I didn't know we were discussing theory. Next you'll want to know, "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?".

Careful drilling holes in your tank for a second petcock. I've got a perfectly good OEM tank with three holes in the bottom I'm trying to figure out how to fix because I had the great idea of installing a second petcock. The idea was to do it on the OEM tank before I drilled holes in my IMS. Good thing I did...
