quick favour needed from someone with a european or general export bike that has the black steel rear fender support bolted to the subframe. Could you pop your seat off and post a picture of how the upper left subframe lug should look that the fender support bolts to? pretty please....with a cherry on top.... bow

Hey thanks,

That first picture pretty much shows me what I need to know - can you just confirm that the fender support arm going to that lug has a slight twist in it and the lug doesn't sit square to the top sub-frame rail? My issue is that I found that arm unattached to the lug and is bent up. Also the aluminium lug, which has been drilled out bigger and tapped, is splitting open. need to get it fixed as I am doing a trip into Rwanda hopefully in a couple of weeks banana

More begging required for the extra info? beat head

Cheers

The right hand side sits nice vertical , the left side is 45 degree strange angle , i wonder why honda decided to twist the connection like that , i cant see any benefit in it . Dont overload the piggy as many do , its not a mule .

MF - thanks for the info it was very helpful.

I have made a couple of improvements that should help support a bit of luggage on the back. First I see pictures around the web of the sub frame cracking on the left side where the long bolt threads into an insert in the subframe. I have replaced this with a longer bolt that still threads into the subframe insert but is also long enough to put a washer and nut on afterwards. So, I tightened the bolt as normal then held the bolt head while I just nipped up the nut to hopefully provide a bit more support and spread the load on that connection across both sides of the subframe rail as on the other side.

I have also drilled out and tapped to take M8 bolts the holes in the end of the subframe where the steel fender support bolts in. Once I've got that lug repaired that will get an M8 bolt also.

Hope that helps others!

Cheers
SkidMark
