My BRP is going Supermotard with Marchis guy!
I know some of you will be dissapointed because I am making her a supermotard but what can you do, I fall in love with the marchis and I am waiting for my order to come in, It is going to be christmas in August this year LOL! I haven't seen Riko's bike lately but I think He is running a supermoto wheels on his. now my question will be what type of sprocket I should go with? I am running a stock set up at the moment, can I just leave the rear and front sprocket and just put my wheels in? I just put new chain and new sprocket at the begining of the season.

What type of sprocket?
One with teeth will work best.
These give the chain some grip to bite on hence forward motion is likely when you turn the ear, especially so because a SM has way more grip on tar than a pig in shite.
Ask more Q's, we're here to help!

You could, for sure, but you might be disappointed.bikerman wrote:...my question will be what type of sprocket I should go with? Stock in the US is 14/48, F/R, even on my dual-sport rig I run 15/48. If it was me on 17" rims I'd probably run 15/47. Measure both sets of wheels with tires to figure the circumference and judge sprocket requirements from the difference between the sets. I know I would be happier with taller gearing for a bike destined for mostly street use.

Guys what is the torque on the brake disc bolts? where can I get the service manual for the BRP?

14/40 or 15/42 is what you need for SM , when i sold my SM wheels i had 40 tooth rear sprocket installed on the rear wheel , you are downsizing the wheels to 17 inches and the bike is going to be used mostly on the tarmac that is why you should use the smallest sprocket you can get for the rear .
BTW i hate to see XRR turned into ugly Sumo but i have to admitt that those wheels are really sweet

Mauser what is the set up on your SM? I can only get a JT Steel sprocket, Can't find a renthal one Aluminum on 40, isn't it 40 teeth to small for the back? just thinking loud.

Re: My BRP is going Supermotard with Marchis guy!
My motard was running 16/40 at the coast but I am at 5000ft so I am running 15/40 up here.
At 5000 feet it only dropped my top end by 5km/h when I dropped from 16 to 15 as she could pull a slightly higher RPM with the shorter gearing.
I may try a 14/40 as I don't really need a high top end.
With the 15 I pull 180km/h as per my Vapor and confirmed by the XR650R gear calculator - http://www.docstoc.com/docs/104070266/Honda-XR650R-Gearing-Calculator
Theoretically with the 14 I will get 168 but she may pull a higher RPM and go a bit quicker than that
Sucks that we lose power up here
Love your wheels

I have a nice set of rear footrests - I think they were custom made and they look much nicer than the ones I have seen online. I will take pics when I am home and post them. If you guys like them I can take measurements so you can make some up - only problem is mine don't fold up but you could make a plan when you make yours.

Pushing up works, but then let the system empty first!
A big syringe + a small hose works wonders for filling, slowwwwwwwly, but have a pal help you as you don't want to spill this fluid out of your reservoir all over the spanking-new paint
Have fun. looks good!

I am considering buying some CBR600 rims but that is another project - I think the spokes on Talon hubs look nicer but they have tubes = punctures that can't be fixed easy.
Your rims look awesome Bikerman and I know they are not cheap
