Was wondering what you guys thought about adding a fan to the radiator, does it help, not work, what you guys think?.

Eehhe...I didn't do any spares but I still have the CNC laser cutter contact.

I've send the DWG draw by email and they've send the 4mm aluminium plate in a few day:

Totally worth doing, I use mine quite often in the tight stuff.

If you don't want to get raped for KTM price look up Spal fan 4" on ebay, its the same fan.

Anyone actually got any data to backup the fan theory ?, must be someone with a Trailtech who can say "yes the temp drops down by 0.00000000002 degree's when the fan cuts in ?"

yes i have a temp sensor on my bike , but fan is only on a switch , when my bike hit 100deg i turn it on and can watch the temp drop to 85/90 in a few mins , i can sit my bike and idle it for 10 mins b4 she starts to get to hot 110deg

so yes they work , but if its a really hot day and im stuck in slow moving traffic she can still over heat , but doesn't happen often  Very Happy

Wow Mauser, such a question for a clever boy like you.....  Sad
Try reading "Thermodynamics for Noobs" and conclude - with me I hope? - that any extra wind through a radiator helps with cooling the medium inside.... hence a fan works indeed!
Sean gave you the answer as to how much. If that's not good enough though, an XRL will idle all day long without any protests  Bump

I agree with Sean, I have a switch and trail tech on mine, when the temp get up to 100c I turn the fan on and it will pull it down to 86c. In tight stuff where you’re working the bike without the fan I would see 112c but with the fan it will hold it at 93 all day long. With the fan running I can let my bike idle for as long as you want with no heat problems.

All I wanted was a figure from someone who could provide the data  BRP smile as long as it works it's worth bearing in mind if over heating is an issue, nothing worse than being lemmings and just fitting stuff without any proof they work  Bump Bump Bump

I'm glad ooeddym finally said 100c, I was reading through this scratching my head wondering why my bike runs more than twice as hot. I forgot that not every country uses the same units of measure. Lol.  doh

I'm running engine ice for my coolant of choice, and on the open roads I keep a temperature of 175-180F (79-82C). I can stop at a stoplight for about 2 minutes and reach 220F (104C) fairly quick. The summer time temperature usually averages around 80-100F (26-37C) here. I think I could greatly benefit from a fan install. Another thing now on my to do list.  Rolling Eyes

I too am running engine ice and I have pulled my thermostat. I see the fan as almost a must unless you don't care about your motor getting smoking hot at times.

I have the fan I just need this guy I know to get off his A$$ and make the mounts... <-- That's me...

But I run Engine Ice and without a fan run exactly as said. 175°F running down the road and 220°F within a couple minutes of idle.  Slow technical riding and stop and go on the freeway I've seen over 240°F which is why I want the fan.  Stop and go traffic on the freeway was horrible and there was nowhere to go.  Just sit in line and cook your engine...
