My bike is an '01 that I bought a little over two years ago. I got it with the super moto rims installed and a cut down CRF front fender. Included with it were the original dirt rims with decent dual sport tires, the factory front fender, and a black headlight bezel.

Ok not got the hang of posting pictures. I'm not sure why it's a link and not the picture. I've been trying to post up pictures since last night.

Mauser's helping hand
Saylor's XR Image_zpscf9dd3d5

Right click on your picture on photobucket and select properties at the bottom...highlight and copy the long url on the picture....looks like this https://2img.net/h/i1295.photobucket.com/albums/b640/offroadjeep_yj/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpscf9dd3d5.jpg come back to here and then insert the picture into your post by clicking the little icon 18 from the left hover your mouse over it says "Insert an image" paste the long url into the top box and click "insert" it should add tags around the url like Saylor's XR and
Then your all done... dead easy once you have done a few  BRP smile

my first modification. Handgaurds. And yes that is a manual horn.

Saylor's XR Image_zps53784193
Then I had to add mirrors to my hand gaurds.

Saylor's XR Image_zps80d4f76c
Then I added a fender bag and a Wolfman luggage Tankbag. Oh yeah and a handlebar pad.

Saylor's XR Image_zps68f7e2cb
a view from the cockpit.  banana

Saylor's XR Image_zps338f5899

So I noticed my bike was running on the hot side.

Saylor's XR Image_zpse1f5690a
Thought it would be a good time for a tune up.

Saylor's XR Image_zpscd38b648
Stripped down to drain the radiators and change the sparkplug.

Saylor's XR Image_zpse74fd199
Rigged up a pop can drain funnel. worked ok, but may need a redesign.

Saylor's XR Image_zps534c93e2Saylor's XR Image_zps0e079268
I've got a couple of different headlight options, but I'm waiting until I get an upgraded stator. The black one actually came with the bike (new not installed), and the white one I got with the Baja Designs dual sport kit. Which I will install hopefully this winter.

I know an adjustable wrench isn't the right tool for the axle nut..... but hey I was too impatient to wait until I had the right tool.

Saylor's XR Image_zps35407650
time to ride dirt for a while!

Saylor's XR Image_zps614dc2f6
My bike stand also holds beer!  cheers  too bad there's a big red pig on the cooler.

Saylor's XR Image_zpsccb85bce
All done and ready to ride dirt...

or hay fields. Gotta watch out for them hay bales though, I've read the stories.

My bike hanging out amongst my step-dad's bikes.

Saylor's XR Image_zpse9b430ee
Due to lack of tread, I had to put my sumo setup back on.

Saylor's XR Image_zps00edab52
Finally ordered these Michelin AC10's

Saylor's XR Image_zps78aa6525
Then I got them all mounted up and read to go. Very Happy

Saylor's XR Image_zps505e0861
Took the bike out for a test ride, and after riding it with the street tires mounted for about 8 months, I had forgot what a beast it is in dirt trim. Throwing the gas to it in 2nd gear on asphalt Does not result in a wheelie, but the back tire spinning.

Saylor's XR Image_zps541d6315
This was the result of my 5 minute test ride. Sad

Saylor's XR Image_zps9a13ca6f
Recently ordered this 4.3 Clarke natural tank.

Saylor's XR Image_zps0378c7f2
The install was very easy, only issue I had was the rubber around the frame had to be trimmed just a shade to get the tank to sit all the way down.

Saylor's XR Image_zps20c8ef5e
Saylor's XR Image_zpsc859826c
First time out after new tank and rubber rider

Saylor's XR Image_zpse1f3e1a9
This picture was post ride, bike is pretty clean because I rode home in a torrential down pour. Stopped raining on me about 3 miles from home.

Saylor's XR Image_zpsc7dd58f0
This is probably the most recent picture of the BRP

Saylor's XR Image_zps052351aa
I Just installed this tool pouch this week. I always liked them on the older XR's. Got it off of eBay for $45 it's actually for a XR600R.

Well I've actually ditched both the horn and the fender for my latest setup. I also have a brand new black front and rear fender in my storage building. Then I ordered black radiator shrouds, but they're on back order. The guy from xrsonly told me I'd have them some time this month. I also have a new black gripper seat cover I need to install, but first I need to find some seat foam because I'm going to add to and reshape it. (Hurts my back side after 50-60 miles on blacktop). Also I have all new graphics ordered for it. Oh yeah I also have a set of renthal fat bars and protaper bar adapters to install. More pictures to come whenever I get the time to do more work to her.

Well keepin her clean is sometimes easier said than done. Plus mud adds character. Or at least that's what people tell me about my jeep.  naughty

You're definitely right about that. I've probably got right around $4500 invested in the bike total. And plan on about another $2000-2500 in upgrades by the time I finish. I wouldn't mind having a new ktm 500 exc if I hit the lottery, but I wouldn't trade my bike for one. XR's are the bikes I grew up on. My first was an '86 XR80R.

I plan on pulling the engine out and polishing the frame this winter. Want to replaces all seals and bearings. As well as rebuilding the forks and shock. Plus this bike has a lot of aluminum which helps cut down on the amount it can rust.  2 thumbs

Saylor's XR Empty New Goodies

Post  Guest Tue Jul 08, 2014 12:08 am

Saylor's XR Image_zps32ef2c6e
I got a few new things over the weekend

Saylor's XR Image_zps0c82de01
My current bars and setup. I bought the bike with these bars on it, does anybody know if these are the factory bars? I've seen other bikes with silver sets, I'm just curious.

Saylor's XR Image_zps0c44a16e
Stripped the old bars off and about to fit the adapters.

Saylor's XR Image_zps45ed4eeb
A side by side comparison.

Saylor's XR Image_zpsef2585eb
I had to check the width on the adapters to the bar pad openings...... apparently you can install them backwards Rolling Eyes

Saylor's XR Image_zps5cfbea7a
Side view of adapters. Really happy with the fit and finish, protaper makes a good product.

Saylor's XR Image_zps4b25c3da
New bars mounted......... sort of. My handgaurds don't fit, going to have to modify.

Saylor's XR Image_zps4bdfc81c
Saylor's XR Image_zps8b3c77f2
Throttle cable is too short or in a bind. I didn't have time today to pull the tank off and check the cable routing. scratch
Everything is just lightly tightened, guess I'll call it a mock up. shrug

Awesome. I was going t ask if anyone had their cables ran on that side and if it would cause any problems. I guess that answers my question before I asked.  Very Happy
I've also got to modify my handguards, hopefully I can find time to do that tomorrow.

Nice bike.

Looks weird without the fork gaiters. Ever thought about slapping some on?

To answer your question, yes. The previous owner must have taken them off. I really want to buy a set and put them back on, I'm just waiting until this winter when I plan on doing the fork upgrades.

Saylor's XR Empty Stickers.... sort of

Post  Guest Wed Jul 09, 2014 1:38 am

Saylor's XR Image_zps0fc7dcbf
Bought these fenders a while back, kind of piecing together all new plastic and then I'll change it all out at once.

Saylor's XR Image_zps0b53f94e
bought some cheap graphics off ebay ($35) thought I'd go ahead and apply them to the plasitcs I have

Saylor's XR Image_zps8d307b21
looks good from a far, but far from good

Saylor's XR Image_zps01e6d7dc
The sides wrinkled up no matter how much I heated them and pressed on them

Saylor's XR Image_zps05c1a704
......So I took a razor and trimmed the sides off. Problem solved.
