Michelin AC10's Empty Michelin AC10's

Post  Guest Thu Nov 27, 2014 7:43 pm

Hi all.

I was just wondering if anybody has had experience with these tires on there brb's? as i might be getting a set on tomorrow but i don't know much about them.

I have tried searching online and found some people saying they have had 3000 miles out of the rear ( thats funny ) and others saying there's have been bald after 180 miles scratch

Since i have the supermoto wheels i will be using them for the tarmac miles and only using the ac10's to and from greenlanes and offroading so i was wondering how many miles people on here get out of them and how much grip do they have in soggy mud/gravel or rocky conditions.

Thanks BRP smile

They are great tyres for what they are and well priced too , but they are 100% offroad ,  i would not recomend them as a DS tyre , terrible vibrations , bad grip and shocking rate of wear if used on road .

cheers frosty, i will only be using them on the road to go offroading on and then back home. so hopefully 10% road 90% offroad(i hope) just got slightly worried when i seen the comment saying his was bald after 180 miles scratch

I have 800 miles out of them so far  ,  you can have a look at them if you want to get an idea  on how they wear .
3000 miles sounds realistick to me .

Whats your veiws on them BuRP? got them on the wheels now so theres no going back but i haven't had chance to test them yet.

I think frosty must of restricted his bike instead of uncorking it, if his tires last that long asking for it

I know its off topic for Michelins but has any of you tried the Mitas E-07's as im leaning towards these, like the looks and there dot approved 50/50 on offroad!

i might of had them on a klr650 a few years ago but i cant say for sure, just the tread pattern looks very similar to the tires that it came with. if they are the same tires then i found them pretty good offroad on gravel roads, hard mud.

thanks kirky! are there any benefits or loss with going 130 wide than stock 110 I know height of tire might affect gearing a little? scratch

A 130 has a wider contact patch than a 110, the ac10's i just got on are a 120 profile but they are actually the same width as a 130 so i have a slightly bigger contact patch on/off road.

Hhe height/profile can affect the gearing and speedo slightly but not by that much but over here the police are kind enough to give people a 10% leeway on the speed limits to account for this.

my digital speedo is setup for the 21 inch front wheel but i use a sat-nav on the bike as well because i ride with the supermoto 17 inch wheels in most of the time and the speedo is never that far out from the satnav. off the top of my head i think the speedo reads 80mph when the satnav reads 71mph and theres a 4 inch difference in the tire size so i cant see you having a problem with them.

I have been pulled over a few times in the last few weeks for apparently vehicle checks(seeing if the bikes stolen) and i have been told all sorts like my racetec tires aren't legal as they are race tires(until i have had to point out the dot markings on them), and i have had police complaining about the lack of indicators before as well.

i don't actually mind being pulled over by them if they are just checking to see if the bikes stolen or not as it shows them doing there job but 99% of them turn out to be jobsworths just looking for a extra notch towards there christmas bonues even though they don't seem to know there own jobs dummy

"just looking for a extra notch towards there christmas bonues"

Huh?
Are UK coppers fishing for bribes, or put it this way, are bribes being paid in the UK?
That is news to me, I thought such was eradicated in the last century, and if you offer you'll go to jail.
Unlike here, it is expected if not almost mandatory BRP smile Bump
