End of the year if i am lucky but more likely early 2016 , price unknown ( my guess 11000 +/- ) , so yes its a gamble , but there is something special about this bike even the honda people are excited , i was looking for a new bike for few years and there just was nothing out there that i wanted , until now .
I have imagined this " perfect bike " ( perfect for me that is ) , basicaly XR650R , with comfy seat , little bit of wind protection and slightly bigger engine that can sit at 70 Mph all day long . Then i have seen it at NEC and i knew this is it the wait is over . banana

Its going to be RELATIVELY  light , for a 1000ccm bike made in  2015 ( emision and noise  restrictions )  , what people dont understand is that it is getting harder and harder to meet the  legal  limits for the noise and emisions .  I was told that the bike cannot be sold with knobbies as they are too loud  Shocked   , and all of this adds  weight ( for example  catalitic   converters ) .  At least honda was clever enough to make the exhaust removal  as easy as possible  , So we can save nice few KG's  by installing aftermarket system . I think most of us understand the noise and emission stuff re weight but ultimatley it will have to be better than orange or they may appear silly

I just think 1000cc is too big for an adventure bike that will actually get used off-road in anger. 650-750 would be perfect but they all insist on making 1000-1200cc bikes... why?

I agree but I guess that's what they need to do to make money.A lot of these bikes get sold in Europe where there seems to be very little serious off road areas left. For example sake there are only approximately 2000 miles of usable un-tarred roads in England & Wales that bikes can use and there are some dicks in parliament that want to ban it out right in England and Wales.

I believe a lot of Europe is the same (excluding Spain, Porra'ville and eastern Europe) unlike Southern Africa and the Americas and Oz where there is loads but the markets are probably a lot smaller.

My current search reminders pertain to a 690r with a rally raid kit but 10K is a bit much for a new one. Yes I know it is heresy to covet orange but it is a very good bike and I would be inclined to get one for the right price over the AT as it would do what I need from it.

Even the new CCM looks nice but the motor seems to be too small and only has 5 gears Neutral, there is an AJP PR7 on the horizon that looks like it could be good too but the motor is the unknown aspect there.

But I guess we have to wait and see what the AT is actually going to be like, you never know it may very well be awesome...

I have been hanging out for the arrival of this new bike.
Some are saying it's too big, too heavy etc.
However I think Honda will make it feel smaller than it is, can see they have shifted the fuel tank lower etc.
I'll be seriously considering the purchase of this new beast once the punters have had their hands on it and put it through its paces.

Can't wait.

i'm very unlikely to go orange for the simple fact I want Honda reliability and spares availability when adventure riding...

That is what sells , manufacturers are in it for the money and they are trying to produce stuff that will sell , sometimes they get it wrong sometimes they will hit it spot on .
You can hear people whynging about this new bike all over the web , saying that honda makes boring and heavy bikes , .... cough cough , XR650R anyone ? the lightest , fastest and bestest 650 that i know about . Yes its reliable and boring stuff they made most of the time , but i like reliable rider

I used to have KTM's back in the day when noone even knew that they exist , people have been asking me "what is this bike you ride ? " , "never heard of it" , "Austria ? do you mean Australia ? .... Rolling Eyes
They are great , ... when they work , unforgiving for lazy owners that dont look after them .
Would i have one again ? , well i nearly bought one again ( 990 ) , but i was holding back to see if honda gets it right this time , and i am glad i did wait nice

BTW that AJP PR7 thingy will be good , that is what many want , nice single , i would not worry about the engine , its a proven reliable unit ( bit heavy but that means well build ).
If i was after a big single that would be my pick , the CCM450 its super nice but 450 just isn't enough for the type of riding i do .
