Re: Sumter Sc hello
Well now Afo,
I'll admit I'm curious too - and for once I'll be the first to ask for "Picture Please?"
No idea what bike you refer to with your 'BRP' but I'll help you here.
A BRP is a Big Red Pig, an unofficial nickname the Honda XR650R got during it's production years 2000 - 2007. This often is abbreviated to 'Pig' but in fact is a bit misleading, see below, but is done anyway, and amoung the informed this is clear enough.
Lots of XR650L owners tend to call their bike Pig too - dunno why, this bike is not an R (from Racing, and deservedly so). So, if you've bought an L (some refer this letter to Ladies bike) then enjoy it, it's nice enough.... but far from an R!
A "Pig" is a boxer GS BMW, and for obvious reasons too: it handles like one! Before diehard fans get angry now, I've actually got one and should know.... long story very short but it is the reason I now own a BRP, the last yearmodel made, a 2007.
So, with htis out of the way you now know why everybody here is VERY curious as to what bike you've bought - because it is definitely not a 2015 BRP, I'll put my cock on a block for this

I'm sure everyone is happy for you that you'll get your bike, but what bike did you buy?

Nice bike, enjoy!
You may want to do the carburetor mod (read up on it pls, there's 2 different ways) so as to get a touch more 'oomph' out of it, but do this after you've mounted an aftermarket silencer if you're going to do such. You won't need an oilcooler however if you want some bling then that's something nice. This is an utterly reliable bike but for the ignition module, some have problems with a dry joint - read up on this too.
Oh, and watch the oil consumption, an aircooled engine always uses more (to a LOT more!) than a watercooled one. If I had to cross Africa to Europe then this is the bike I'd buy, I'd leave my R at home.

And Afo,
do NOT (like in never!) put a K&N (or any other cotton gauze) airfilter in it!
They let through fine dust, that's why.
Better is to mount a UNI foam filter, breathes a bit better than the std paper filter once it gets a bit dirty. Foam filters well if you maintain it well, ie clean regularly and re-oil without over-oiling.
Regarding this forum, it is for R bikes, so most will pretend to look at your bike like the plague..... but everyone is in fact jealous that yours has a happy button (the R has a kicker only)
Happy Hondaing buddy, enjoy the outdoors!

Just a shame it's an "L" and this is a "R" forum lol...enjoy your new bike but not much on this forum is common to your bike apart from being made by Honda

Agg we're softies Mark, all we like here on this forum is women, beer, gambling, women, fishing, boobs, liquor, sand in fancy underwear and the like, so a chap with an L is fine with us too.
Did I mention girls?
(Edit: yeah, we like R's also )
