Hello everyone

Post  Irving Zisman on Fri Nov 13, 2015 5:15 pm

I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I am a long time XR650R owner, but have never seen these forums before. I bought my XR new in March of 2000 in Boise Idaho. As you could imagine, it was not a very popular bike up there so I managed to get it at a good price. I fell in love with this bike from the first ride. More power and torque than any other dirt bike I have ever ridden.

After a few months of owning the XR, I received a phone call from the dealership that sold me the bike. They informed me of the California emissions that were installed on the bike and how it would be sold without those emissions from then on out in all other states. They told my that they wanted to remove those emissions from my bike and they would do it under warranty. I naturally agreed and dropped my XR off at the dealer. When I got the bike back and took it for a ride, I was astounded at the difference. I thought it had power before, now it was just retarded fast.

After nearly 16 years, I would not ever even consider parting with my XR. I have had many trips to the emergency room thanks to my red pig, but I still love her. I am looking forward to participating in the forums and meeting fellow XR owners. I am taking the XR out this Thanksgiving weekend so I will have some photos of my XR after.

Hi Irving!
I would never part with my bike either, they are in a class of their own! Why Honda discontinued production of this bike and continue to make its brother the L model is a mystery to me! anyway welcome to the forum cheers

This I will never understand either. The XR won the Baja 1000 so many times that Honda just decided it was too good and had to discontinue it? I suspect that it was due to Honda trying to boost sales of the CRF450's. I would never get rid of my XR for the CRF.

Oh right, another bozo with an XR650L wanting to look good bragging about his Ladies bike, how he trundles along super wide fire breaks and....
Oh!
... wait!
Did he write R?
He did didn't he, XR650R ?
I'm sure he did!
Yay! BRP smile

Well then, welcome bru!
Don't feel silly or out, all are XRR addicts here!
We are are filthy too (except Mauser of course) and looove any grunting action whilst getting dirty if not sweaty (again, exclude Mauser, however he seems to have some kids...).
But, our main biggest common denominator in our addiction is de-corking!! cheers
Yes, I am talking about alcohol, beer, hard liquor and.... eh, erm, no I'm not!
What was sold in California was a lame extraction of a proper bike, a 'racing' bike which could not race at all!
Decork the bugger though and witness a transformation, from Cinderella to the Hulk! Cool

Now go get it dirty Irving, you also live in the land of plenty space!
And enjoy! pig
