Handgrips, Throttle Body and the FCR41 Empty Handgrips, Throttle Body and the FCR41

Hey all!

I had a 2001 XRR that I had purchased last summer. It was the summer of love, I rode around, dirt, street, and I fell in love. Unfortunately some dude tboned me and *completely* demolished the XRR. Thankfully, the bike was so light, I just launched off and landed on my bum, no harm to me.
The bike was totaled, so I went to the wrecking yard and yanked everything they would let me off of the bike. I wish I knew what I know now then.
I did manage to yank the FCR 41 carb off that bike ( the previous owner had *really* tricked everything out, he was a fireman with lots of time on his hands ).

Come to today, I purchased another XRR (2002) locally here in SF, and its still a great bike, minus the care and host of mods that were on the other bike (this one is entirely stock minus the uncorking). First thing I noticed was the throttle was kind of rough, just the action on and off, compared to the previous bike. So I attempted to mount the FCR carb on, but the cables were too long.. I called the carb manufacturer and they said that I needed special cables, UNLESS I was running a different throttle body. I had pulled the old cables from the previous bike and they were OEM Honda cables.

So I really loved the old bikes throttle action. I am thinking that the other XRR I had was running a different throttle body to allow the FCR to use the stock cables- and this also probably provided that super butter smooth throttle.

Anyone know what other throttle might I have been running?

tl;dr what other throttle can you mount up here that has a nice smooth action which will work with OEM cables on an FCR41 carb?

thanks all!

OEM cables should work perfect on your stock throttle ?....that's what they were made for, have you had the tank off and checked the cable routing etc ?, mines dead smooth with OEM stuff ?

So you have the FCR41 and stock throttle cables and it works? When I installed it, it was like 2-3 inches too long on each cable.

By "throttle body" do you mean the throttle tube assembly? The FCR is usually run with whatever throttle tube the carb originally came on. My FCR came of an '06 CRF450R and I use the throttle tube and cables from the same bike. The carb and cables would not have worked with the stock XRR throttle tube assembly...
