Revs bottom out after blipping throttle & sometimes cut out
Hey all. Had my xr650r for a couple of weeks now and I frikkin' love it
Only annoying thing is that it sometimes cuts out which is super annoying.
If I blip throttle the revs dive when they come down and sometimes cuts out, sometimes cuts out when hitting idle after slowing down for a junction or something which is also kinda annoying.
Tried adjusting the pilot fuel screw but to no avail.
After about 1 1/2 turns you can back the screw all the way out and nothing changes.
I'm running 68s and a 175. I'm at sea level.
Had carb apart and can say 100% it's squeaky clean.
It must be running rich as I can start the bike with no choke at all 1'st or 2'nd kick from cold. (actually easier with no choke)...
I was under the impression that 175 / 68s was the go-to jetting for this bike?

Never mind what the main jet size is Deepsky, it's irrelevant for the idling circuit.
68S is relevant, and correct.... so you better look at the airjet - which this carb not really has!
So, take the lil' cover on the LHS off, behind which a membrane & spring lives.
This is a nuisance-gimmick, best is to disable it - by plugging the tiiiiny bore in the cover with a small droplet of epoxy glue.
Let the glue set, put back everything and off you go.... better?
I think it will be

Re-reading yours Deepsky,
are you 100% sure that the choke is not "On" when you think it is Off?
If so don't feel bad, there's many an oke who's done the same!
If not then do the above, however that won't explain why your bike starts cold easily without the use of the choke!
Checked the float level, and checked it the correct way/method?
I think the book states 17mm but increase it to 19mm so as to prevent pissing when leant over on the sidestand, a not uncommom problem.

Sorry, been a bit slow on replying.
Now stuck a bit of epoxy in that hole. just waiting for it to set and I'll go and test.
And yep defo using the choke correctly.
To be honest, I don't even touch the choke, bike starts up fine from cold just on first kick no choke.
