GPS Plug & Play

Hodakaguy convinced me to hard wire my Garmin straight to the XR's power source. Being cheap I didn't want to buy two power cables...One being for the car using a cig adapter and the other being what Garmin calls a "hard wire" cable (basically the same as cutting off the cig adapter). I found that you could buy the cig power cable for less money than the "hard wire" cable. I also bought a couple of plugs and made it so I can use my Garmin in the car or hardwired to the bike.



You probably figured it out that the other plug is mounted just behind the headlight shroud. I used a third plug and wired it to the Garmin cig adapter for use in my car.
