What oil for our BRP ?
I'm sorry if the question was already on the forum but when I search with the word "oil" I have any results, it's strange because topics with this word exist ...
So my question is easy
What is the best oil ?
I had read a lot of things.
I put 5W 40 in full synthetic, but it's a oil for car and of a supermarket ...
I know change many times the brand of the oil is not good.
And I would remake my engine because he eat a lot, so what I do put in my engine ?
The first time I run on the track I have no problem, but the tenth she eat a lot of oil ...
When she's hot the oil make some small bubbles.
And more the time pass, more she eat oil ...
The track rod is the underbelly of the XR, I've read that full synthetic is bad for the track rod, it's true ?
Thank's for your answers

Re: What oil for our BRP ?
I don't think you want to use car engine oil, you have a gearbox and a clutch in there.
I am going with Bell-ray Thumper oil - Will change after 100 km and then at every 1000 km

Re: What oil for our BRP ?
I've see the prescribed between car and motorbike ... it's exactly the same.
So why not ?
This oil ? http://www.belray.com/bel-ray-thumper-racing-synthetic-ester-blend-4t-engine-oil
10W 40 or 15W 50 ?
I change the oil all of 8-10 hours (I ride on track only).

Seems like you have answered your own question, you can use car oil if you like, but I'm sticking with bike oil Silkolene 10W~40 Semi-Synthetic

Re: What oil for our BRP ?
There are plenty snake oil salesmen in this hyper-capitalist modern world of ours and I'm of the firm belief that most modern oils are very high quality and the API and SAE specs are the deciding factor,
BUT.... the theory goes something like...... Car engine oils and motorcycle engine oils have different additive packages, I.E. car oils have friction reducing additives that supposedly are not too good for the performance of the wet clutch used in most motorcycles, yet lack the high load pressure additives that motorcycle oils have to reduce wear on the gears (car gearboxes being separate from the engine and using a different oil).
I have an opinion on the merit of this explanation, but in the interests of conserving whats left of my sanity, I'll keep it to myself.

If you think it's possible why do you not use car oil ?

I'm totally agry.
I'd work one year in a motorbike shop and actually I work for a car shop.
Now oil for diesel and petrol are same ...
And kie you said API for example were the same for motorbike and car ...
What's your opinion ? I'm impatient to know
Tell me at the very least which oil do you use for your BRP ?

Car oil?
Mororbike oil?
LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try "ENGINE" oil, lots closer!
Bellray made a name with their foam-filter oil, and it still is one of the best there is, the blue goo.... but I won't use anything else from them.
Castrol made a name with their racing 2stroke oil.... but I won't use any of their products for even a padlock.
Shell anyone, Agip, Caltex, Mobil, ever heard of an oilblooper from them?
Ah, no, not talking about spillages
Put in what you like, but I read a staggering lot of overpriced names in this thread

Re: What oil for our BRP ?
Ahaha thanks for your answer
I see it's always a great discussion
I had spoke with a guy, he have a XR since ten year.
3 XR, with a preparated engine, never a problem with car oil 10W40 from a supermarket
I would to make same
The best is 15w60 for SM but the price is great ahaha
I have open my engine
I have found any problem and he is very clean
I think I would to close him without change anything (just high compression piston, technium 11.3 a 1)
