Sun Sea and Bog

Post  Hew on Tue May 26, 2009 6:38 pm

It was a Red Honda day.
Steve, with his newly fitted upside down forks, CRM

Matt Crf

Me on the Pig.

For me it was a bit of a recce for a two day meet and also to see how the Pig was at bog crossing.
The weather first thing was spot on.
We started by going over Kings

When fitting the forks Steve had pulled them about an inch through the yokes and this was making the bike handle a bit strange. We had a quick stop to reset them. Time well spent as it sorted the handling out.

Sunny Barmouth

Green green lanes

Loads of other users around who were mostly happy to see us.

We crossed over to Barmouth using the railway bridge, cost £2 Please note that the money collector listen up was asking us to ride slowly on the bridge as some bikes have been riding recklessly.
This byway is more interesting than ever with more of the wall collapsing into the lane.

Luckily I saw a couple of walkers in time as I reached one of these rock piles. I don't think they would have been impressed with a flying pig.

We made our way down to The seaside and lunch

Once fed and fuelled it was back up into the hills

Before introducing the Pig to the shi*t

Matt pleaded that I took his photo before lifting the bike off

My dream of riding straight across the bogs was soon shattered. :rofl2:
All the recent rain had re mushed them

Once into the forest we cut a few trees to make future riding easier

From there we made our way to check out a lane for Slider. Once found it made the moor look like a desert and was also over grown with trees.
We retired gracefully having already used most of our energy crossing the moor. Perhaps another day equipped with winches. Wink
Time was pressing on and Matt pleaded for an early finish, bleating on about a long drive, a poorly knee and his third day riding blah
We made a round about way back to a main road.

It was a good job the ride was cut short because as we rode back to the vehicles the Pig went on reserve.
Once again a great ride with great company . Thanks.
Ps Hope your knee is better Matt
PPS.
What can I say the scenery in the area is breath taking the trails amazing. the meet is going to be 2 days of riding heaven.

Nice report w/ beautiful scenery pics!

One question, is the land there mostly private? I ask because I see a lot of fences and rock walls...

The land is usually private but the roads, lanes, tracks in the photos have public right of way for motorised vehicles Smile

Excellent!

It's nice to see some dirty, muddy bikes.
