Brendan from Colorado, new to XRforum and Xrs...
Hello XR Lovers!,
I came across my XR in a pretty wild way last summer... An acquaintance of mine, Josh, purchased it sometime in the spring of 2013. It is ugly but so beautiful. When I would see him riding around the area I knew that the XR650R was the bike for me. Not necessarily that particular XR, but I would have mine.
A few months later into the autumn months of 2013 a friend of mine and I were on our way to one of our typical crappy moving jobs ( I cut firewood, move furniture, haul cars, build steel drums, and other sorts of jobs that pay the bills but don't buy XRs) when we stopped for coffee at the local shop. Our friend Josh was there advertising his crappy old van for sale and asking an insanely high price. We shook our heads chuckling and started to walk away when my buddy Shawn mumbled as we turned to leave " What about that XR of yours? You selling that?" Josh jumped right on it and said that indeed he would sell it for 500$ but we had to go pick it up at a friends and that it wasn't running. I thought about it for a while, Shawn passed as he didn't have the cash at the time and I said deal, jumped in the moving van and headed home to empty the safe... 400ish...
When we got back to the coffee shop I began to tell him that I had 400 now and 100 later and he interrupted me blurting, "The Bike is Hot and it doesn't run and I don't have the title..." So now I obviously had to bail under those circumstances. As I started to put my money away, Josh ripped 110$ out of my hand and said "Deal!" I went to retrieve the bike found it in it's beautiful ugly state, outside, under a pinion tree, in the elements, handle bars 30 degrees out of true but this was true love at first sight...
It later turns out that the Bike is not at all stolen. Josh did lay it down and vowed never to ride it again in fear of his life. Josh had just gotten out of a mental institution. Bike is fine after truing bars and putting some good AvFuel110/91/methanol in it!!! This thing rips. Previous owners say it produces about 75hp and on a different sprocket setup they have ridden over 120mph! it's a beasssst!
Let the Journey Begin!

Madder, geewizz bru, just in time, my finger was hovering over the 'send' button controlling a VERY nasty post, leaving Focker no choice but to ban me in a heartbeat!
Oh wait, was it my finger?
PS: when did you start reading my filthy mind?

He'll knock me out if ever I deserve that, but a bitta fun now & then is nothing wrong with.
Besides, haven't seen girls here - which is of course entirely to blame on Mauser's bike which is perpetually too-clean!

Now the old boys have had there say: Welcome! Enjoy the bike and make sure it is uncorked etc. (and maintained as it sounds like it was a bit neglected... )
