Seems I'm about to pull the (EFT) plug on a '03 XR650R tomorrow. The bike kickstarts easily and seems unadulterated by hotcams or other aftermarket fittings and with pretty low mileage. A straight standard uncorked XR6.5R by the look of things though I wasn't blown away by the acceleration after a short testride on the weekend compared to my lightweight (135kg tank empty) XR650L  If things work out I hope to spend some more time here. Who knows what my XRR future holds - anyways looking forwards to the trip and giving my 0.10 worth.

edit: I'm an L Rider - its true! any option of embedding a YouTube video here?

Get it first, then sort it out - gearing perhaps?
Some dudes put too long legs on it, which hampers the going slow then also.
But an R in SA is a hen's tooth, if it's fine then go first, you won't regret it.
