should I wrap or coat my header pipe? Empty Wrapping is wrong

Header pipes were never engineered to be wrapped.

I called several people about this a few years ago. The best information I got was from two engineers at Pro Circuit. The nutshell version is this:
The pipes are engineered to be as thin and light as possible. Wrapping them holds heat in and gets the pipes far hotter than they were engineered to withstand. The pipes will fail much sooner. In fact their Ti pipes are only engineered for a race or two.

I called an engineer at Thorley (my dually has coated Thorley headers and I posted this whole story in a longer version on here elsewhere). He took my T-4 pipe and had it run through with a batch of their headers at an aerospace company in LA. I taped off the male side of the slip fits and that was all. I think the cost was about $70.

The coating is a resin mixed with aluminum dust.
