after wreaking my 260mm wavy disc, i decided a 280mm EBC item would be even better,
got the disc, installed it + some new pads, started to run them in, noticed that the pads were'nt contacting the disc parallel, causing the disc to try warping[ the new $300 one],
found the caliper was expanding out of square to disc, on dismantling, i found the pistons damaged+ the seals leaking on one side of the pistons only, noy sure if this caused the odd wear/ warping.
so now im installing a 3piston vfr800 caliper+ a cbr1300 14mm m/cylinder, the caliper is the tricky bit, it is unusual in that the pistons are on one side only as like a dirtbike type, this will provide more pad surface area in contact with disc, in combo with the extra push from the m/cyl & larger disc should mean awesome braking potential, i will continue to use the std type caliper/m/cyl for dirt riding, the caliper is going to need a fair bit of modding to get it installed, but i tend to like jobs like that, more soon

brake upgrade Empty faulty front caliper

turned out to be the caliper was flexing apart, i installed new pistons/seals, same result, so i overheated the old disc with the off-road pads after a 180kph brake test, it must have DE-tempered the alloy in the caliper!, this i find amazing, as id used this brake setup with different pads on my 6,000k trip around the south island to good effect, a simple pad swap then all hell breaks loose on the brakes.id replaced the caliper with a kxf250 item which seems identical except the pads pin doesn't have the little cap to cover it, still planning the upgrade, it will take a bit off time to sort out
