Bleeding Front Brake Advice

Just a post in case anyone is suffering a soft front brake after a rebuild etc.
To make my system completely free from air, I removed the master cylinder and attached it to a spare handlebar and then hung this up as high as possible to maintain a constant rise in the brake hose from the calliper to the master cylinder, then I tied the lever back with some tape and lightly tapped the calliper to dislodge any tiny bubbles, came back after an hour or so and now the lever is absolutely solid....
