I've recently bought a go pro 2 head cam and have been getting used to it.
This is the first ride with it on the PIG. I was leading a group of newbies around some trails in our area.
It is a long video at 52 minutes.
I have not added any music as some is allowed, some is allowed but restricted and other music is not allowed for copyright reasons so if you want to watch it pour a brew and turn on your hi fi. Otherwise just skip through different bits.

More vids from my rides.
These are from a ADV forum gathering.
I was leading a group with BMW X Challenges, KTM690, DRZ. There was meant to be a couple of BRPs but they did not turn up.

If you can its worth waiting for 1080HD to load on the saturday ride

Sunday was a bit misty to start causing a bit of moisture behind the lens cover and blurry video. Only 720HD

I have a last of the classic Husabergs and had been desperately trying to rebuild it and run it in prior to a 3 day Husaberg forum riding meet.
As I was going to be leading for the 3 days I needed to make sure that it was going to keep going for the full three days.
Unfortunately I had flucked up the kickstart engagement on the assembly and even after reassembling correctly it was NOK.
With only 3 hours on the enginde following a full rebuild I had zero confidence of it lasting the course.
Out came the XR and after a 5 min check inc. new brake pads it was good to go.
I must admit that I had a great time leading the Bergs for 2 days on my PIG
I did take the chance on the last day and use the Berg. So nimble and light but it did let me down with the battery packing up and with no kickstart back up it needed bump starting for the last few lanes.
Here are the three videos the last being on the Berg.
Best watched on the 1080HD setting with your fav music as backing.

All legal trails in Wales.
Hassle is mainly from ramblers on holiday from the Peaks or from people who have bought their dream cottage without fully researching it and find it a real nuisance that half a dozen bikes ride past their property once in a blue moon.

I must admit that it is so much fun that I am surprised it has not been made illegal or at least taxed to death. naughty

Have ridden Strata Florida a couple of times. Loads of fords and water crossings.
Be wary if it has been raining the day before. We were discussing whether to do one of the crossings/fords when a Discovery went through and the water was over his bonnet/hood. That made up our minds and we found a detour through the forest.

Nice vids! Yesterday, I bought a GoPro Hero2 motorsport edition. What memory cards are you using? What are you getting for recording time per card/per vid setting? How long does the battery last? banana

I will post some Arizona desert videos when I get back this December.

Using a 32GB class 10 card which lasts all day on the 960 - 30 setting.
Battery lasts for 2.5 hours but have bought some spares from China £9 for 2 delivered and they also last 2.5 hours banana
Can't recommend the gopro2 enough really happy with it.
I also bought the motorsport kit but with hindsight would have bought the outdoor version instead as I am more likely to use the head/chest strap than I am the suction mount.

Dougyfresh you might recognise this place.

Note to self not to change the battery out in the rain. Moisture gets in and the waterproof case does not let it out so the video after 28 min gets a bit steamy.

Hew,

couple of things wrong there.

First, I'd have taken the bridge, but that's me.

Second, one always walks first in deep water, always always, then ride/drive.
Oh wait, except in Africa, here you send a friend to walk through first.
Crocodiles you see, nasty vermin. If they're there you then wheelie through, your friend keeps them busy then normally.

As I said BuRP the "buffalo girls" went around the outside on the footbridge. Very Happy

I was not the first to ride the ford A KTM had been in and sucked a couple of crocks into it's cylinder but that cleared the way for a DRZ and then my PIG.

We managed to empty the KTM of water and get it running again however a couple of rides later it has started smoking.
Maybe it is just coincidence but a respected KTM guru had warned the lad that valve seals would now be compromised as a minimum. Must admit it has made me think twice about deep water.
Still felt good coming out the other side naughty

Latest Video.
With record rainfall for June this year the trails are about as slippy and muddy as they get even in winter.
Great

Camera angle is way too low for the first 5 mins or so but then gets better
as always best viewed on the 1080HD setting.

Nice vid Hew!
Was wondering, what makes the 'third' track in the middle, what causes this?

On deep water, genuine we walk it first - especially for judging/sizing the current, you linked vid refers here. Water in the engine ruins it, or if not it's bad at minimum, refer your pal. He'll have to pull the top, and my advice is to inspect the rings also, which means the jug off too. But, if markings on the piston skirt are there..... aww bru, nasty. All avoided by any detour possible, your girls on the bridge refer Very Happy

The third track is usually made by motorbikes or pedal cycles.
In general if 4x4s use the route the ruts on each side are wider and deeper than a rut in the middle.
The ground was really that soft in some places that the wheels were sinking straight in.
I do understand the point with water. In general I am riding areas that I know and have ridden through the rivers/ holes before and have a reasonable idea of the depth.
Feeling the force of the river flow pushing the bike certainly quickens the heart beat and brings a bit of adventure to the day.
If in the rare cases it all goes wrong then that again something different to the day. It is the UK so we are seldom more than a few miles from tarmac and towing bikes the 10 - 20 miles back to base in no real problem.
Riding around is an option available to all with nothing other than a bit of teasing being the result. Again this make for a great atmosphere for the ride and sometimes future rides that take place.
Must admit that one section where the DRZ stalled was very deep. Thankfully the DRZ just had water in the carb.

I had always thought that it was possible to drain any water out of the carb by leaning it over and letting it out of the overflow. This is not the case on most carbs and the small cap screwed to the bottom of the float bowl needs to come off and empty the water that would otherwise play havoc with the pilot jetting.

Mounting the GoPro on top of the helmet does tend to smooth out the terrain a bit
There is no secret, just looking far enough ahead and going just fast enough to get momentum over the rocks and steps to keep going forward. nice
