Chat boxes kinda suck, IMHO, though. I'm still not sure of any significant, useful purpose they serve, but that's just me. A live chat room, though???? Hmmmm.

I like the idea of the chat box moved to the side panel but I have to find the right html code. I don't care for it at the top of the page and can move it to the bottom. I only stuck it up top so that it would be seen. The chat room thing might be to gay of an idea though. I found it today in the forum options and thought what the heck. Feedback is welcome...My thought is that I'll probably get ride of it.

As for the non scrolling topic box...It's growing on me.

Not a huge fan of the Chat box. I could see topics getting discussed/resolved in the chat box instead of in the threads, thats cool but everyone else doesn't benefit from the results like they would if it was posted in the threads.

My thoughts exactly...Doug and I had a little chat yesterday and I could see where good information could be lost and not posted.

Kiwi nailed it here. If I'm understanding you correctly on what a chat box is. I think Jo Mamma wrecks Advrider. It brings out the worst in people. And in the last year I heard they had some serious discussions about deleting it.

IMHO, it's just a time waster and becomes competition for people's limited time that many are using now to post interesting and useful information.

I believe a shout box, or chat box, is a text area (like this) inserted on the home page (although it could placed anywhere).

Site members can type in comments for all other members to read and reply to. They are generally lame, and go something like this:

"Hey dudes. I just woke up. What's going on?"
"Right on bro. I'm cooking some eggs. Ain't it a nice day?"
"I'm going riding in a few. Wanna come along?
"Anyone ever take organic chemistry? I heard it's brutal."
"Eggs? Alright. I love them with some hot sauce."
"Dude, you are up early."
"Hey, Tiger's up to 14 HOs."
"What kind of tires are the best?"
"I think I'm going to take the day off."

Jo Momma is just an off topic forum, like our "Soap Box" forum. Well, JM MIGHT BE just a tad more f'in brutal!
