Re: Anyone Still Around
So today I put some leds lights just upon the back plate. I'm fan of powerful stop lights, saved my life lots of time in town, when stupid cagers typing on Facebook just don(t realise your waiting at a red light... Not considering the big engine brake of the thumper which gives them some surprise....
Have to make a diode wiring to use this stop leds as fog light too. Usefull when going down moutains into the valleys in the fog, slowly as a BMW in a single track with tourtaeh luggages , and supernatural laser eyes heroes (the fog-not-exist algorythm ) in cages and trucks run behind you ...
Front light is powered by the AC circuit ( european bike) . I just replaced the by an OSram "said to be brighter blabla". In fact , yes, it's a lot brighter !!

Re: Anyone Still Around
Hey fellas, I'm new to the forum. I grew up riding xr100, xr230, and xr400, but now i've stepped up to the BRP. I recently got hooked up with a 2003 for free from an old riding buddy who had been letting his sit for over a year. I got it about a week ago, got it started, and it was pissing fuel out of the carb drain tube, so I disassembled, cleaned thoroughly and got the problem fixed for now. Next step is getting it registered, since its current green sticker is from 2008! Hopefully that doesn't break the bank. Anybody live in the Southern California area that has advice on places to ride? I've done some riding back in the day in Ocotillo Wells, but did most of my riding in the badlands between Hemet and Beaumont. Anyways, would love to hear from some of you guys.

Me too, but mines in bits as I had the foot peg bolt break in the frame so striped it so that it was easy to remove the broken bolt, while sorting that I sent my forks and shock to be rebuilt and increase the spring rates as it don't weight 70kgs so just waiting for them to be done so I can put her back together.

What sort of temps. When you say recent hot weatherHew wrote:I'm still riding but got bored of editing the Go Pro film, I also lost my camera so no photos either.
Other than that the the Xr keeps on chugging. Loving the CRF forks.
The recent hot weather has once again made me think of fitting a fan for tight sticky slow speed lanes with no air.
I made one using a computer fan some time ago but will try to find a piece about fitting one off a KTM.
PS you bike still far too clean

Honestly can't remember now but I guess about 30 degree max. The main factor would be lack of air flow on slow technical trails, often overgrown, cutting down further on the air flow. No worries now with a big Spal fan fitted. I guess overheating will never be a problem ripping across open spaces with loads of air flow through the rads, unless you know different.beaver350 wrote:What sort of temps. Re: Anyone Still Around
I was just curious about the temp. range. I had an XR500RC 1982 air cooled of course, used to red line all day in the forestry tracks, hills, mud holes, wheelies, did this for 20 years using old school castrol grand prix 20w50 minersl oil, that was the common 4 stroke oil back then, never looked like heat siezing or giving any sort of problems, but i have noticed with the 650 it seems to get hot just waiting for a green light, sometimes wonder if i am just paranoid with all the fancy synthetic oils and liquid cooling you would think overheating should not be a problem unless there is a fault ie coolant leak, jammed thermostat or whatever.Hew wrote:Honestly can't remember now but I guess about 30 degree max. Re: Anyone Still Around
Mind you over here the temps. might be higher (highest recorded 52 degees celsius) but really if the forecast is higher than 30 celsius i stay home in the airconditioning, getting soft in old age, just pick and choose when i want to ride it
