Time to close her down ?
I'm now getting the annoying popup to another site when I hit the new topics link ?, apparently it's down to lack of use on the forum....as such I shall be bowing out on here shortly.
I will probably set-up another forum on the 650R website I run or even a shoutbox

Yeah, it's quiet as a mouse here Mauser, excuse the pun.
Quite frankly it would be a shame to see this site go, if only because there's a load of info embedded here....

Re: Time to close her down ?
Its been a while....
As BuRP says it would be a real shame to see the wealth of information dissappear. I think this is all a sign of the times and how people access infomation online is changing. Just got an email from Yahoo groups that they are changing the way their groups work so that rather than having an online area you log into to access/post info it comes to your inbox instead. That seems to be the way things are headed?
BUT - for me a forum like this is invaluable when you need to research an issue or get technical advice from other people. It looks like this forums use is for that opposed to an online community of people that chat about their day etc... Not sure why it works on advrider, thumpertalk etc but it is what is is....I guess the forum being limited to only XR650R is the reason although I don't think that is a bad thing as it means all the info on here is meaningfull to XR650R owners.
For me personally I find this forum extremely useful (while I have an XR650R) and would hate to see it go.
Cheers,
Mark

Yes the Pop Up ads suck. They weren't there when the site started. I started this forum using free software because I wasn't sure if it would take off or not and didn't want to waste my motorcycle funds on it.
For awhile I was Grandfathered in and didn't have to worry about the Pop Up ads new forum creators were encountering. Well now as you can see we have to look at them, they want money. You can pay to have the ads removed, but it's not worth it to me.
The site doesn't have to vanish...It just needs 1 or 2 people to keep it going.
Obviously I've trailed off on to other things, but can be reached if you guys need something in the event no one wants to take over the Admin functions.
Thanks everyone!

Focker, thank you, I see that as a compliment - would yes, could no.
Reason is I am dangerously clumsy with internet things, hell, I use Win7 still.
Mauser is clearly lightyears away from my levels and I'll presume so are you.
In addition I will travel a lot in future, have already the past year, reason being early workdodging aka retirement, so time would be irregular at best.
However, let me grab this perfect opportunity to thank you both for what you've done thus far here!
Also Focker, never said this but I must tell you that I love your handle, you simply cannot be a normal dude
But then, who is still loving an XR650R eh?
Got a 500EXC-W, 701E & 790R here, they all beat it.... but I'll not sell mine, worse, this year I hope to finish what I've started modding-wise - and then ride I'll it far & remote.
Simplicity & reliability combined with grunt and 'enough' power, hell, it still has no peers
Will keep popping in here, my whopper on a block

Don't shut this down!
Do not close this forum down. I have seen several others and this is one of the best and has endless good information. If you are ever going to take it down, let me know first. I will import everything and start a new one but... BUT... I will change the topics to be more to my liking with the beauty being people would should still be able to log in with their current credentials AND search for whatever they want.
This place is great. I'm new. I don't know who to thank yet really but THANK YOU!
Tell me what happened to everyone? The last one of the BRP was made in 2007. New bikes are smaller, faster, have the magic button, another gear maybe and fuel injection. I get that but was that really enough to make everybody jump ship? I often read that everyone who sold their BRP hates themselves and are trying to get another one. I'm keeping mine forever! I may even buy several more, fix them up, put on a magic button and sell them for top dollar. Old rich guys will pay anything for one of these with an electric start on them. Just ask me! They don't care about the fuel injection or another gear. They just don't want to kickstart this pig.
I look forward to hearing from some of you. Take care! be safe and all of that stuff.
