Cam shaft
Hi guys,
While taking out the worn cam chain, I found out the cam shaft is most probably not the genuine one (no automatic decompressor).
Would anyone know which model it is based on the pic and part number WW-HCJ NO9, and a sort of oval engraved?
Since I adjusted the valve clearance I had more and more often the kick starter getting blocked in the middle of it's course - I had disconnected the manual decompressor so it cannot be blamed - Maybe the end result of my valve clearance adjustment was not good given the excessive wear of the cam chain (cam not on the proper position when stator on T sign). Chain was rattling and tensioner fully out.
Main objective is to know if the valve clearance should be different than Honda settings if the cam shaft is not a genuine one but a stage 1 or 2
Cheers

Re: Cam shaft
Sorry not come across that part number and nothing on Google, I would drop back to stock cam, the bike runs well with stock set-up....never really understood the need to change it ?

I agree, but the bike came like that, previous owner is not the one having done all the modifications, just trying to get this bike running correctly without changing everything - HCJ could be Honda Corp Japan, but just guessing

Hot Cams J(something), and HotCams is a brand.
An HRC cam does have a decomp system, so this is an aftermarket camshaft.
Keep it, set the valve-play to std settings - and DO set it correctly wrt the crankshaft of course!

Indeed, based on the references, looks like a Hot Cam stage 1 - rebuilding will be epic!BuRP wrote:Wildboar wrote:Mauser wrote:HCJ could be ....
