"XRs Only" Website
Is it just me, or does the "XRs Only" website ordering system absolutely suck?
I'm not one to bash vendors for stupid errors, mistakes, etc.(we are all only human), but I've had a nightmare of a time ordering through these folks online, more than once.
Is it just me? Their "contact" page will not even allow me to send constructive criticism. Apparently, I'm not filling in the "proper fields."
Anyhow, if any of you dudes have an "in" with them, do them a favor and let them know some think that their ordering site sucks beyond belief. After many attempts to order from them, I've had it (I should be making love to my wife right now, but I'm playing games with their dead end system and typing here).
On another note, is there another business to order our magnetic, oil drain plugs from? I can get everything else I need, elsewhere.
Sorry for the rant!
Dave

Re: "XRs Only" Website
Only thing I did not like is that it said they were Processing my Order, but the email they sent out said that they shipped my order on the 3rd. I then logged in to 'track' the order and nothing would come up, so I shot them an email a few days back, which took them a few days to get too which basically said the order was on hold due to one part not being in stock (they never said what part) and that they would be mailing it out the 7th but they would not have a tracking number till 4pm. I never did get that email with a tracking number.
My order was not small, I think it was like $527.
So yeah, they could improve on their site. One thing I like to have when I order online is a tracking number I find this to be a very basic service (just like waitresses keeping your drink filled, not hard to do and it keeps the customer happy), I like to see what UPS says will be the delivery date.
KTM-Parts (https://www.ktm-parts.com):
They were fast, and I received a tracking number right away. I ordered the cooling fan fromt hem.
Highwaydirtbikes:
I did not like that I had to use Paypal, I hate Paypal with a passion. But he did ship fast, and I also got a tracking number right away.
Morepoweracing.com:
I ordered the Leo Vince from them. They did not email me a tracking number but I got the package within 3 days.
Powersportsuperstore.com:
They were slow to fill the order. However they did email me a tracking number within 3 days. I ordered the Acrebis 6.3 Gallon tank from them for $253 that included shipping.
Electrosport.com:
I ordered the Dakar Kit, and Speedometer. As for shipping they were fast, and I got a tracking number right away. The kit had two left side brackets, so I called and they are fixing suppose to mail me the correct bracket 2-day mail...hmmm I guess that means Monday. I also had to call because the kit should of had the cooling temp housing but failed to have that in there. I only know it was suppose to come with it because my brother in-laws came with it. After I questioned them they said that is was suppose to be included and if I wanted it they would mail it...hmmm Yeah, I want it.
Mc-Master-Carr.com:
I ordered the foot peg bolts. They came in 2 days. I love that company they are always fast, and they provided a tracking number right away. Oh, anyone in CO want to stop buy and buy 2 bolts off me $2 each?? I have 6 left, I used two and gave my bro two.

MXSouth is the worst ever for me
All they will tell you is they guarantee it to be there within 10 days. So I ordered but I needed something to be here in 10 days. I left for a long trip on day 11. Naturally, although I had called them repeatedly and emailed them a ton, it arrived on day 11. Worse, they are aholes about it. And their guarantee? They didn't do anything about it. It was for something I REALLY needed to ride so I had to go into a store/shop and pay 50% more. And ended up with two.
Xrsonly just seems like they have no competition and are way too proud of what they do/sell. But where else to go?
4strokesonly is good. And fourstrokesworks.biz if good. Precision Concepts is outstanding and has always shipped same day for me. Chaparral is OK. Bike Barn in Medford Oregon is outstnading. I think that is the place. It's in Medford anyway.

Gotta include our bros at Dual Sport Armory ( www.dualsportarmory.com ) on the good list.
It might be time for an "Excellent vendors" thread, for folks to use as a reference. Or perhaps, a "Good, bad and the ugly" thread.

XRSONLY
Okay what the hell, I emailed them the other day and say basically" hey, never got a tracking number" and today I get an email that says:
"Sorry for the delay, your levers were out of stock. Everything is good and it has shipped, tracking number UPS 356723765476" (I made up the tracking number, not sure what info you can get from one otherwise
on me...lol)
They held up the whole order over the levers *shrug* If it was my company I would of mailed and just tossed the levers in a small padded envelope and took the hit on that little extra shipping cost, don't hold up a huge order over a lever. And as it JUST shipped..UPS gives me shit for tracking info or expected delivery time. Well I guess I'll see that stuff next week.

Yeah, those "out of stock" delays holding up an entire order are a killer.
The super smart vendors have put a ton of thought into such issues.
"Hmmmmm.... Let's use the contact info from the client to ask him if he wants to delay the whole order, or split it up."
The really, really smart ones came up with this brilliant idea of letting you know an item is out of stock before you buy it. Imagine that.
On a brighter note, I ordered a set of "bark busters" and hand guards from www.wheelingcyclesupply.com a couple nights ago. Not knowing the hand guards came in pairs (duh), I ordered two. I was immediately contacted by the company, and asked if I "really" wanted 2 pairs. I said "no," and they corrected my error, sent my order and offered up a tracking number. Now that's customer service.

Are you sure they are a dirt bike company?
That hardly sounds like a dirt bike company.

Re: "XRs Only" Website
The thing is, it is FREE Shipping for orders over $199, which I beat twice the amount (my order was like $527). So I could of ordered two separate times and they would of been out of whatever the shipping cost was anyways. So in a way I saved them some money by placing one order. So the least they could do was mail the levers when they came in instead of holding up the whole order. I think that is another problem with companies, when they do FREE Shipping they try to count their pennies.
The reason why they do not have a live inventory is because I bet they order the parts as you place the order (probably keep very few in stock) and then they ship out. Typically why places do not have a live order system that tells you whether it is in stock or not. Place could be run out of Grandma's basement for all I know. Maybe after I get my stuff and it is right, I will email them with some suggestions. If you do not let companies know their strengths and weaknesses they will never improve as they will assume everything is A-Okay. Most companies have thanked me, some reward with coupons and stuff for me taking my time to give them real feedback.

Here's what I do
I either find a local mechanic, or a local shop, and I deal with them exclusively. So I expect to pay a good discount on everything. When i lived in San Dieo I had an agreement with North County Yamaha. Right now I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old so I have no time to work on my stuff. Problem is those little shops rarely stock much so I end up going to Chaparral to try everything on and then order from my friend. I usually get about 10% to 20% off on everything. But in exchange I get my bikes worked on there, I do a lot of good word-of-mouth for them, and I am never pushy on getting things done fast. My current guy in Petaluma basically gives me everything for cost plus 5%. Plus I help him out when he needs a favor. I was in there about a year ago and someone had ordered a real nice air filter cleaning and reoiling kit. Retail was like $100. My mechanic was going on about people that stiff him on orders, how they don't understand how that hurts a little guy like him, and so I asked him how much it cost. He gave me a price, $75 to me, and I said to put it on my bill. When I got the bill he charged me $50. Now I'm sure if I did intense Internet searches I could save some cabbage on sales tax and all. But in exchange I get a lot of favors. The little things that make a difference to me.
I'm not above doing the nice little things either. So when I drop off a bike, I try to get there about noon (never right at closing), and I bring a couple of bags of In-N-Out Burger Double Doubles with fries and shakes. What does that get me? Well, a little fatter for sure. But I also get treated better. When I drop off the bike to have a new GPS wired into the bike's power I get back a bike that has all the electrical reorganized and various size Expandable Braided Cable Wrap and Heavy Duty Spiral Hose Wrap liberally used.
Oh yeah, and I usually bring some porn for the wives.

Re: "XRs Only" Website
I deal with McGrath Powersports in Cedar Rapids IA... They are a Yamaha, Honda, Kaw dealership but they also work on my KTM since there isn't a local KTM dealer. They have have always had the parts on the shelf and for the most part, price has been compareable to the online places...There is no shipping when you pick it up where the small orders are going to cost you...
For my custom work I use RPC out of Palo IA. These guys are great and when it comes to internal mods on your motor...none is better. I highly recommend you give Brian and Dan a call if you need some serious motor work done. I'm having them set up my new carbs and pipe on my 07 XRR...
