Tnks

Your "2007" bike is identicle to the 2000 year bikes apart from different graphics, clutch spacer and primary output shaft seal....you will find your bike is a lot older than you think asking for it
Foot peg issue will still be present on your bike.

Yes if your worried about them....also make sure the bolt is longer than the stock 1 ?, took mine out and it was really short didn't use all the threads available, strange how Honda supplied the bike like that ?. It's a fine thread if I remember correctly.

"It's a fine thread if I remember correctly"

That will read perfectly understandable for anyone mastering English.
It also will be making perfect sense for anyone technical raised with the ISO (metric) system.
It won't make sense for Americans though, they still regard furlongs per gallon as normal.

I'm sure Mauser won't object if I add here that he meant that this thread is a Metric-Fine thread, quite different from normal Metric threads.
Then again, I quite doubt if that is the case, if I remember well-enough (Altzheimers aside) it is a normal bolt.

Better-quality bolts will help, and Capscrews (Allan-heads) automatically are 8.8 material. You may find 10.9's but know these become very brittle, they snap instead of bend - a bad idea for a footrest.
Often suggested is to drill-through the framerail completely, and put a (locking!) nut with washer on. This allegedly makes things stronger - but I (my opinion) am not so sure about this.
Doing the above in combination with a welded-on bracket (all steel) which 'reaches' over the framerail does however, and this 'fix' can be had via the net. Search for 'oil tube xr650r' and find the chap who sells this plus a footrest-mod. Top stuff, I've got both.

Come on Burp give me a break banana but there again looks like my old brain was working correctly as the thread is metric fine M10x1.25 listen up

This picture might help....

Firing Squadron..... Attention!!!! Shoot BuRP s--t head !!!!
OK, so I stand corrected - farg this Alzheimer's beat head
But if the bolt goes through no need for m/fine, and you'll struggle to find a nyloc nut then too.

In alu it does make sense Mauser, more threads to grip spreads the loading on the (soft anyway) aluminium - and yes, I realize that the threads a bit shallower.

Now, where's that hamburger??????

I believe this will compromisse frame resistance...we are changing the stock bolts because of failure and the solution is far worse??

I would stick longer and stronger bolts in, if needed get a tap and ensure the thread is as deep as possible.
I wouldn't go right through unless my threads had pulled out...? just as long as possible.

This is by far the best solution out there I believe...Precision Concepts and XR650r say no more.

Diane Bell will answer the phone most likely and is extremely helpful / nice lady. Check it out...

Wouldn't say the best solution @ $169 Frustrated my pegs are fine as they are, I stuck in longer bolts and all is well. I guess if your going to race your bike or you weigh a lot then you might need something better than my solution.
