Fuel all over the floor Empty Fuel all over the floor

Post  Guest Sun Mar 07, 2010 4:19 pm

I have been storing the BRP in my Toy Hauler for the last few months. Yesterday I went out there to take a quick look at everything and found a puddle of fuel under the bike.

I haven't had time to check anything yet but I'd like some advice on where to start.

What I know:
Fuel pet-cock was off
It's an 07 with VERY low riding time
Nearly no miles since it was uncorked
It seems like quite a bit of fuel...might be just the float bowl volume, but...

What do you guys think?

Stuck float & fuel pet-cock leaking?

If it was me I'd clean it well, pour some gas in it and look for a trail. If it's dusty from your last ride there might be a trail. You get get all CSI and put some dust everywhere for track the stream. Tie a clean rag to the breather hoses to see it is them.

Process of elimination.
Start with your fuel tank, fuel can exit up the breather hose which runs down your triple tree. Also check for holes in your tank it's self.
Check the seal around the pet cock, and the elbow hose to the carby.
That just leaves the carby now as the last item to be inspected, remember there is overflow tubing running from the carby down to the base of the frame, this could be where your petrol is coming from or maybe the carby itself. I hope that helps you out with tracking down where your fuel is coming from. Let us know if you find the problem! Good luck.
