Valve clearance on the pig Empty Valve clearance on the pig

Been checking out on the details of valve clearance.. its not the same as XR650L thou. How do i know whether its TDC? and if i'm doing the right thing. Any direction or site for me to guide, doesn't want to do the wrong thing by acting smart. better to ask then sorry. Crying or Very sad

Let's see if I remember the Manual (never done it yet myself):

Best is to remove the LH side-cover.
Remove the spark-plug also!!!!
Of course remove the tappet covers too.

Then turn the crankshaft counterclockwise, and only counterclockwise, at least 2 or 3 full turns, until the 'T' lines up with a marker.
Check if all four valves have some play / are loose: if not turn another full turn (counterclockwise!!) to T.
If all four tappets are loose adjust the valves.

If this doesn't work then a) I'm explaining it wrong b) the valves are too tight c) you're working on a 2-stroke d) ask again Smile
