CARB HEAT SHEILD WRAP. dramatic temp change.
I ride my BRP on the street almost daily and we all know how HOT the CARB can get, and cooler fuel burns a lot better. I dont like the fact that my bike seems to idle different when the bike is hot, sitting at stop lights the bike, depending on the TEMP my idle fluctuates and sometimes the bike dies, I like to keep my idle around 1450 or so.
I used some THERMAL TEC kevlar heat wrap and wrapped it around my carb, and the results are dramatic. No more fluctuating idle, never stalls out at lights, seems to start way easier at operating temp also.
The temps were taken at operating temp before and after a hard ride down the street and back.
Temp went from roughly 250'F WITHOUT WRAP down to roughly 162'F WITH THE WRAP.

I think I posted this in the wrong section. oops, lmao dont get me wrong here guys, Im not thinking this is a cool fabricating job or custom MOD, lol. I just wanted to let a few people know the difference in temps and idle results by SIMPLY wrapping a piece of material around the bottom of my CARB, not showing off any mod or fab skills, which clearly aren't applied here.
LOL.

more info please
my brp does the same thing - unpredictable idle - dies at lights at the worst time--etc... - I looked on the web and could not find a small piece of kevlar wrap like that -- where did you get it? does it stick to your carb or how do you make it stay in place? I did not see a clamp or anything holding it----piece of wire? is there a piece on the bottom of the carb? or did u leave it open-- thanks
is kevlar easy to cut?

Heat shield
Cool idea (no pun intended), I'm thinking maybe a thin piece of alluminum could easily be cut and fastened between the carb and pipe as a semi-rigid heat shield instead?

Here the link, its made by COOL IT, THERMO TEC. http://www.thermotec.com/products/16850-kevlar-heat-barrier.html
JEGS OR SUMMIT MITE BE CHEAPER.
I just used LOC WIRE to hold it in place, I just sewed it together.... First I wrapped the carb with household aluminum foil, covering the bottom really good,,, then I wrapped it with the KEVLAR HEAT WRAP and fastened it with some LOC WIRE. it works really good. The bike rarely dies out at lights anymore. No more hanging idle either. Its not a perfect cure, it still dies once in great while after a really hard blast, but nothing like before. Soon I am going to build an insulated aluminum heat shield around the whole carb. Ill post pics soon.

i think gpu chip coolers can do the job, get the right size and stick em to the carb gas chamber
i have some small ones here i dont use so i can give it a try
