akrapovic heat shield
hi guys,
I have an XR650r Dall'Ara (motard) and I ware an akrapovic full exhaust system. My issue is that on the wright side, next to my leg the pipe is totally exposed and regularly melts/burns my pants. I've tried finding something like a heat shield on the akrapovic site and allover the net for an aftermarket part that will fit but I had no luck. Has anyone here have had the same problem and found a workaround on it? Or does anyone have any suggestions? Here is a picture of how the exhaust looks
Thank you for your time,
George

Yo George,
'ere ya go: Insulation Wrap
This stuff works a charm, is cheap-enough as you'll get plenty. Can touch it barehanded, even your kids are safe now (if you got).
Nice bike!!
As an aside, that exhaust is like Hen's Teeth these days, not made anymore - and very good indeed!
So look after it, you won't be able to replace it.

Re: akrapovic heat shield
hey thanks!
I was thinking more towards a carbon fiber kind of thing but this will work for now, maybe even forever! Thank you again for your time!
PS: this is not my bike, it's just a picture I found on the net with the same exhaust. My bike is faaar nicer!! Maybe I'll post some pictures so you can agree!!
Cheers.

Re: akrapovic heat shield
Thanks Maus',
but I'm done buying parts, exhaust included - maybe unfortunately but still, done. ProCircuit T4 can with XRsOnly headers works well after having had swaged the join a bit bigger. Loud ain't the word, its LOUD - tough for the wildlife!
I notice that some Focker edited my post, I never put that nice looking "exhaust wrap" link in because I'm no ways clever enough to figure out how that works - thanks bru

It's easy and I was bored that day...In edit mode click on the icon that is a link of chain. Paste the web link in the top box and type what you want the link to be called in the lower box!BuRP wrote:I notice that some Focker edited my post, I never put that nice looking "exhaust wrap" link in because I'm no ways clever enough to figure out how that works - thanks bru
Re: akrapovic heat shield
Thanks Ef, I'll try that the next time, I admit it looks heaps better - contrary to yer new hairdo Bru, farging terrible
And, Lopsided Psycho,
bragging gets you nowhere! Pictures might, so off you go, post some.
On that wrap, use stainless hoseclamps to secure the ends, and have the wraps overlapping a bit, then it lasts and keeps looking fine (I've got same also).
If you wrap them against each other it will look tatty after a single cleaning, so don't come back complaining aggressively - better post an aggressive pic of a nicely farkled Pig
