Re: Another problem, too little oil in gearbox ... after rebuilt
I think Bolt20 is either the hookup for the kicker's spring or the stopper for the toothed cam?
Grizzly, being Austrian is no excuse for being stubborn and not wanting to learn. I'll tell you for the last time, this bolt does nothing - but maybe you didn't read Hew's post?
Over & Out on this subject for me.

Not stubborn but still can't get the manual from clymer out of my head, it is written for a XR650R and I'm still afraid because clutch discs not running in oilbath (maybe), hope You're not angry
edit: here's a pic, where the ominous bolt is located (end of the green arrow):

Put your front wheel on a 2" block of wood - problem solvedgrizzly wrote:It would be realy interesting, if anyone with a XR650R can turn this ominous screw out (maybe one with 17inch wheels in front).
When I do this, there is no drop of oil coming out - whether when it runs nor when its cold - still afraid, contacted Clymer now conc. this problem - wait for answer now.
Can anyone turn out this bolt and give me notice, isn't much work. If necessary, I can make a picture, where this bolt is located.

I want one - Where can I get it? Apart from cooling there is probably a small gain in oil capacityMauser wrote:Oil cooler ......don't tell me your bike don't have 1 Frosty ?Mad Frosty wrote:grizzly , forget about the screw trust me , btw what is the thingy under your radiator ?

This "thingy" is an oilcooler from the previous owner. I myself never would spend an idea to give a watercooled bike an oilcooler, think it's needless ...
Yes, it needs 0,2 Liters more oil - for example after oil change 1,8 liters, after rebuilt 2,0 liters ...
oilcooler You can get in Germany here:

That is exactly what i think Chris , increased oil capacity sounds good to me as long as the oil pump can hold the oil flow , i want one .Chris_w_65 wrote:I want one - Where can I get it? So I'm a couple of years late to this thread.
I read this page in my manual and felt obliged to share it here:
Mine is a 2001 U Model (Australian)

FOCKER........ please Moderate Mauser????????
You're confusing the hellouta us mate, that screw does zilch!
Even the Honda manual is wrong, it simply does not make sense... so leave it.
Drain frame & sump, fill frame until full (around 1.5 liters), start, let idle, then top-up the oillevel in the frame so it is 'level' on the dipstiock, then switch off.... finished!
No screwing around with fiddly screws diehards don't even know about, deal?

Rather 1.4lt or a bit less then kick the bike over a few times and add more, I made the mistake of trying to fit more in the frame and the oil overflowed out the frame

With the service intervals on the BRP I am getting lots of practice - 1800km done and almost due for 3rd service already
