steering shake

well l installed a new to me rim and tire assemby no more steering shake and go top end , thought it would be faster then what it does , only 160 km ??????!!!!!!!!!!!!, my 500 xr goes closer but not as quick ???????????????!!
how fast is your xr 650 r

I can only do 70mph over here ( legaly )   

Well my big red pig is dead ???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, balancer blew up sending items through bottom of cases???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any one with a engine ???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lower end con rod blew and piston skirt and items went to the balancer side and through cases??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not a good day really, like theses XR'S but the old ones will have to doo for now, still have a 79 xr 500 and also a 81 XR5000R
but in time the 2004 will get another engine or find another 650

Sorry to hear what happened.
So what actually failed causing everthing to let go?
How much oil was in the motor when it let go?

Are both cases bad?

Sounds like a full rebuild with Falicon Rod, Stage two cam 680 kit.

What gears are you running?

Is the airbox side panel opened up?

the motor is finished , both haves , con rod , balancer assembly done ,piston broke as well , will take a picture later for some laughs
thinking will buy another bike use this bike for parts ???!!
the air box wasn't cut out but uncorked at carb and correct items in carb

going to pick up another xr on the weekend , one year older then my blown up xr but has had resent top end work , New cylinder , piston , valves and cam chain , looks clean and all . will post pictures of it when l get her home
thats for the replys wish my 04 didn't blow the way it did , not sure what happened it was running quite well ??????????!!!!!!!!!!!just before it blew was throttling up from thrid gear to change to four and the tire locked up . Most of the parts were in a new belly pan that l just purchased and installed a couple days before the BIG RED PIG DIED. RIP will keep for parts bike now for the 03 l will have on the weekend

the 04 is going to the grave yard found a 03 , heres my 79 xr and my 81 xr500r they still burn tires , Will post my new bike when l get it later this week

my resent upgrade before she died , new clark tank , new seat , new to me front tire and rim no steering shake now BUT??!! , new brakes , sight tube for oil level , new belly pan ,many other little thing which l learn't on the forum

   Oh the horror!

Not very often do you hear about a 650 coming undone. RIP piggy. Sorry for you luck. That sucks. I have some of my own bad luck but nothing that extravagant. Just know its rare for this to happen to a 650.
