Front forks...what else is there
What else is out there?! I see the 450 conversions ( not for me ) and don't like the stock set up.Factory connection a viable option?

Nothing wrong with the stock suspension , it can be tuned to suit anybody if you know the right people / company . precision concepts , teknik , tillit , race tech , .... search .

The bike was neglected by its previous owner. The oil was never changed and the seals are junk. For the work and money it would cost to service them I would like to know what all the options are.

For a real upgrade /brand new setup for the front you are talking serious money , servicing your works out cheaper , also if you buy second hand kit lets say from crf 450 you might still need to have it serviced because you will never know what is the condition inside

Re: Front forks...what else is there
What he said. I did the CRF450 conversion on my XRR mostly because I wanted the USD forks. It was a very personal biased decision. The down side to the conversion is that they really need to be re-sprung and re-valved for the XRR. But yeah, I picked up a set of cheap forks off ebay and paid the price later in service. But that's what I wanted and am very happy with them. The Original forks are great though. Not my cup of tea visually; that is the only complaint I had with them. My originals though were sprung and dialed in and work great. So I'd recommend taking them into a shop, giving them your specs, (weight, riding style etc.) and have them work their suspension magic.
If you're interested I have some info in my thread about the USD conversion.

If you are going to send them out for for modification, send them to Rob Barnum.
