Re: Its time for the street.
Shame... (sigh)
At least put an opened sidepanel on it now, you actually might enjoy the tarmac a bit more then

I have given it some thought about opening up the side panel. Do you see an increase in dirt build up on the filter in dusty conditions on the open plate configuration. Master E did the open plate mod and I still beat him on a drag run

Re: Its time for the street.
^ yeah I was wondering about that myself. I've been considering cutting my side panel too. I was also wondering if I would see any gains with having a stock carb, exhaust, and jetting or if it would be too much air and hurt performance.

Re: Its time for the street.
Master E is running a tm 40 flat slide carb, big gun full exhaust, xr400 cdi and opened side panel. I have all the same mods except the flat slide and side panel and we run very close on power. The full exhaust was the biggest improvement, the cdi was slightly noticeable.
Without the exhaust I don't know if you would see any gain with the side panel mod.

Eddy!
A) I'm not racing when I have one hand on the bars so that doesn't count.
B) My xr400 CDI is better than yours. And don't forget it.
C) You better of told your wife I said pretty please for breakfast. Otherwise your ex work wife is going zero to superbitch on you.
Tomorrow is going to be so much fun

Re: Its time for the street.
The day was a success, no tickets or wrecks. Rode up to Windy Ridge lookout by Mt. St Helens, pretty awesome road.
Had to stop for fuel before going up just to make sure no one would have to push their bike.
Master E posing.
This tire was relatively un-molested before the ride but it is ten years old. Whoever had these wheels and tires before me must have just had them in the garage for a very long time. Master E wouldnt let me take a picture of his tires, he was shy about not having any signs of wear
Oh yeah it was hot as hell up there also but other than that is was a lot of fun.

Jebuss. That looks like a big gash in the tire. It was fun. I'm sore.

No that's part of the tread, those linear marks are all the way around the tire. I feel pretty good.

Ooeddym wash your seat before the clean fairy notice and you will be in trouble

I have tried everything to clean that seat. I don't know what the previous owner put on it but it is permanently dirty.

Re: Its time for the street.
Looks like fun, I'll have to try that. Have you guys ever been up Logie Trail road NW of Portland off Hwy 30? It's some serious twisty fun! We hit it on an ADV ride to the coast a couple weeks back.

Of course you do, more air means more dirt too! But also, the airstream is linea recta, straight through the panel's mesh onto the filter's surface, so one tends to see a vague 'imprint' of the openings on the filter.
But who cares? Cleaning a filter is easy, and there's little dirt for a tar hugging SM anyway

Re: Its time for the street.
Had another awesome 350 mile supermoto day. Did a little dirt and rattled things apart but no tickets or wrecks so it was a pretty good ride. Master E will have to post up the route map this time I don't have it but we did make it to Mt. Rainier for the scenic loop. Never again though, there were so many cars up there it was scenic but at a very slow pace.
The day started out looking good, I believe it was an angelic sign of pure awesomeness that was going to be had that day.
Made it to this pretty cool rock outcropping to get some photos and realized stuff was falling off the bikes. running SM tires at 25psi and cranked up suspension was rough as hell.
Found a gas station in Randal that had some duct tape which is the universal repair for anything and sure enough it worked great. The posted price was for unleaded, supreme was almost $5 a gallon.
Finally make it to Rainier, for being as high as we were it was smoking hot and there were people everywhere as well as park rangers.
The trip back was when the real SM corner railing began, it was about an hour of balls out corner ripping fun. I don't have any pictures because there was no stopping the fun but we definitely used some tire edge to edge.

Well if you wanted to accuse eric of having a screw loose it could be backed up with factual evidence of his tail falling off.
