Hi the're...want to take the BRP on an Adventure ride, which will mean lots of highway miles between dirt...someone mentioned "damage to the gearbox" and the XRR will never make it. 14/48 and I''ll be carrying about 40lbs of gear...nothing too crazy. Am I missing something...what's wrong with a few/several hundred miles of highway speed per day? Thanks for help!

I have spent a lot of time running highway miles/ klm's to get where I want to go. My longest in one day was about 800klm's, which was done in 48 degrees Celcius. Was glad to get an air-conditioned cabin at the end of that day.
Best gearing combo for me is 15/44, keeps the engine ticking over nice and not as "Buzzy", economy is good to.
Don't know how you'll get "Damage to your gearbox" by doing that as opposed to racing around tight tracks on and off the throttle all the time??

Just take it easy, take in the scenery...

zorro's 2 big days slab from me , gear box issue's i never heard of such rubbish , these bikes are known for the gear box , tuff as guts

15/47 imo is the best all round gearing for the xrr will sit on 70mph all day long at about 5200 rpm running a 140/80,606

i run street rims with a 15/45 with a 50/50 tread that will drop the rpm to 4900/5000 it will do that rpm for 100,000 kms banana

3500 klms between us two, depending on which way you go there's some pretty ordinary scenery in there also.

What type of roads/terrain and what speed are you going to ride?
80 mph Interstate speeds?
Country road speed?
Are you going yo ride off road? If so what type of roads and at what speed?

What ever you decide, you must run good oil like Motul 15-50 semi sync oil.

15:45 gears will give you 70 mph all day long speed.

You must run steel sprockets.

Ironman sprockets by Dirt tricks of Reno, NV
Dirttricks.com

Run good oil. No cheap crap.
