Notched/Grooved Clutch basket
Ok, so I finally have my clutch apart, I have cleaned up my clutch basket with a file to remove the notches/grooves from the inside edge of clutch fingers. Because I don't have the money to replace it. Do I need to do the same to the inner basket?

Re: Notched/Grooved Clutch basket
I don't believe so, the center clutch has the smaller grooves that the clutch plates inner fingers slide on! My experience with clutch's has always been to replace or file the (outer basket) as I think there is more torque or strain on it being that the fingers are bigger and the inner or center clutch has smaller and more grooves than the outer!

BushHarley also check your outer clutch guide as these are known to fail its #2 on schematic in the link above it affected the 2000-200? XRR models New ones have a groove on its inner race!
Maybe someone will chime in with more info or tech savvy! hope this helps and good luck!
