Picked up a 2001 last week.
New guy here. Am 53 and have had about 50 bikes over the past 48 yrs.........
This one is probably going to be my favorite. It just fits me these days.
The bike came with some pretty nice extras, 1/2 of them will stay, 1/2 listed on the bay.
This one runs really strong, so I am pretty happy. This bike will be used primarily on the road.
So it will probably transform in that direction. Susp has Eibach springs for my 225 weight (score) and a few other nice features. 1st few pics was how I brought it home Tues, after that Thurs. Ordered new stock plactics & stripes, a new Baja Designs headlight shroud & a few other OEM parts. The big news is how it runs. Starts easy & lifts the front wheel in 2nd & 3rd at will. Gearing is 13 / 45. That seems to be an odd combo. Have a few xtra (larger) counter shaft sprockets that came in the spare parts bin. Will probably swap it out. Anyway, here it is.
Note, have always wanted to copy my buddies old race bike with a street legal version.
Might keep this one stock & do a build down the road. Was planning to use this bike, but its too fun the way it is. LOL LOL

Re: Picked up a 2001 last week.
As the IMS tank was "steeper", my seat has an upward bias "small gap" with the stock tank.
Is there a way to get this seat boner to go down a bit? Heat & bend?
Thanks in advance!

re the seat - looks like the seat 'scoop' isn't locating on the screw in the tank like it should.... you have the rubber strap attached to the tank that connects to the frame right?

You could use the heatgun to soften and straighten the seat .

Re: Picked up a 2001 last week.
All the parts are there and the seat is captured on the stud. It just has an upward bias due to the steeper tank prev installed. Will try some heat.

Re: Picked up a 2001 last week.
Used the wifes hair dryer on hi-heat to fix the seat erection. Just in case anyone has the same issue.
Heated in the center at the up ward bend while pushing down then put a wet towel on it to cool.
Same with the two ears at the front. Heated 'em up and rollded them down with a screw driver handle to get closer to the stud.
Took about 10 minutes. In case anyone has the same issue from running a steeper IMS tank then going back to stock.

I agree, they're an awesome bit of gear those seats.
Thoroughly recommend them if you're thinking about it.

Re: Picked up a 2001 last week.
The foam is much softer and the wider area makes all the difference, money well spent.
It turns a half hr bike into a multi hr tourer.

Standard seat - pain starts after 5 minutes of riding
Seat concepts or renazco seat - gets slightly uncomfortable after 2 hours as any other seat

Well, maybe I will keep my std seat after all, not too fond of any kind of competition.
Mind though, this then also sheds quite new light on those raving here over 'other' seats..... or is it?
