Good bye
So the old girl is long gone ( and missed ) , to new home . New owner Derek has promised to look after her as i did
New toy has arrived last week , love it except the fact that it has no KICK starter !!!
Shocking decision by the honda designers , everybody knows that the best bikes must have the kicker option

Well my bru,
if that thing must replace your Pig then it'll come short, way short....... but maybe you will ride roads now instead of tracks, dunno.
If so may they be windy , gravelly, somewhat potholed if not downright atrocious - have fun, was nice meeting you here!

Oh, Madder,
when your coming summer will turn to yellow, brown & red, and you hanker after a kickstarter again, you know where to find us, perhaps there will even be some pork for sale in the classifieds

Re: Good bye
Nice work, will be getting one of those myself.
Can't decide whether to go DCT or manual. Leaning towards the manual version at this point.
I'm allowed to keep the BRP too.

I think (read: I'm farging deadsure) I've been given Madders (read: the loony 'un 'ere) uphill enough in the past, and he always took it in great stride!
But now, having seen this forum die out as per last week sometime..... maybe we should get him back?
I suggest we all contribute to a fund so Mauser (I know he will volunteer for this!) can buy a Pig somewhere which will need a decent amount of work so, when we'll donate it to Nutcase then he'll be all over this forum again asking loadsa questions.... so we all can take the shite out of him again!
Just an idea, if anything it would bring some life back 'ere!
Now, wheeere is my popcorn so I can sit back and watch?

Now look just because it's winter and not much is happening doesn't mean I am a sleep...
Output shaft developed a leak and here is the fix...using the tried and tested screws.

Re: Good bye
Umm, fix.... that's the dismantling yeah, neat indeed.
A seal either goes leaking due to a worn bearing (play) or a groove worn in the shaft (play) or the seal's lip wearing off (play).
The latter one is typical for suspension stanchions, the lips simply wear.
The middle one (groove) is often the culprit with the output shaft, due to the filthy environment it works in.
Sure, a new seal will have a better 'springing action' than an older one hence it will squeeze a bit harder on the shaft, but this probably will be a temporary fix only as the actual cause hasn't been addressed.
Hell Mauser, don't want to pee on your battery, but have a good look please?
I'll agree a worn bearing is far sought although not impossible, just sayin'
Mind, I also agree that a new seal annually or so is cheaper than removing & splitting the engine just to replace the shaft

Re: Good bye
Mind you though, a lil' cheating may be good if there's a groove.
If you haven't mounted the seal yet, perhaps a thin steel washer inserted behind the seal?
Thick enough to 'offset' the new contact area (of the seal's lip), a millimeter would do fine I hunch.
2cents only, loads less than a Quid

Ah, likely you have the 'old' type then, this seal's been redesigned twice I believe.
If no 'feelable' groove then you should be purrrrrfect Maus'
A moneypit Maddy?
Yeah, sure, any bike is, but isn't that part of the fun? We all have our vice, come on now, mine is women first, then gambling, booze is big too..... and whatever money I have left after that I just waste.

Re: Good bye
I disagree bikes are not money pits in fact they are cheap in my opinion....running costs per bike per year is next to nothing, what we talking oil + filters + tyres ?.....cheap as chips, compare your bikes to drinking and smoking and it's a no brainer lol....luckily I don't do either I get high on WD40
