Plastic Gas Tank Repair Tips
This came up over on the Yahoo Group so I thought I'd post it here too. Anyone who knows more please correct me or add to this.
Here's the information I tracked down last year when I was trying to
repair the tank on my '94 KDX that now makes an aftermarket tank for.
Here's some info on plastic welding:

Here's some goo specific for repairing all gas tanks including plastic:
http://www.caswellp lating.com/ aids/epoxygas. htm
Permatex makes a product specifically for this: Permatex 09100
It can be difficult to find. I don't remember where I bought it but you can get it online here: http://www.capitols upply.com/ ?pg=iview&pid=8501988&cid=AFFCJ&CJAID=2482321
There's another one here but I it doesn't say gas and instead just says all tanks:

Personally, I consider all the goo or epoxy finishes to be more of a temporary or emergency repair.
If I recall correctly, the plastic welding ran about $50 - $75 plus shipping here in the states.
When I
lived and worked in the Bering Sea we used this stuff for just about any emergency!

I spoke for almost an hour yesterday with a BRP rider in East London, South Africa and he schooled me on the challenge of getting stuff shipped in. So, trying to be respectful of your situation in Africa ...
Here's a fix that can be done with just a few basic tools:
