Just came across these on the ST1300 forum (STOwners.com).

Look interesting. HIDs with internal balasts are getting cheaper.

Sorry, having trouble getting this to work. I'll try another shot.

It's the | that is causing trouble I think but don't know why.

Yeah, sorry, it's the Hella 4" HID there, so if you search for Hella, it's about the third one. Sorry.

lights for your consideration Empty HID Hella Optilux

They had these @ autozone branded under another name - seems like the Hella Optilux line showes up under different mfgs. - Wasn't that impressed with the quality - the case seemed to be made out of just plain plastic - not glass reinforced like the Hella 500s etc. - The were around $105 ea from what I remember.

A friend of mine bought one of the discount auto store specials for $80 .... it looks just like this .... and mounted it on his KTM200 with a small battery .... in total loss mode it runs about 3 hours .... and 35W of HID is pretty damn bright .... and it has a good beam pattern too.

I might just get one and mount a toggle switch to switch back and forth between it (high beam) and the standard headlight (low beam). It's not super high quality ... but it should last long enough for the price.
