raising bars: clutch and decomp cable length problems?

Hey y'all,

I'm raising the bars a lot. Motion pro sells cables 3" longer than stock, but I can't find anyone who makes clutch and decomp cables 3" longer as well. Anyone have this problem? Is there another bike's parts that fit?

I recently fitted a Mikuni carb and had to get new throttle cables made for higher bars.
Boats need a lot of cables made up so it could be worth asking local boat yards for cable makers. The other alternative is cable making kits and making one up yourself.

I managed to use the standard clutch and decomp cable by carefully rerouting it. Be sure the decomnp cable does not go tight on full lock as it cuts the engine.

PM pwrtrippin, he raised his bars 5+" He had to get custom cables done up.

I put 2 in risers and a set of Renthal hi bars on and rerouted the stock cables works fine.XX

No room with the big old Acrebis 6.3 Gallon tank. His was pulling the compression cable tight and causing the bike to stall. A real pain in the butt when you had to turn around in a tight spot.

Has anyone solved the problem? Maybe someone have found match from other bikes? Probably replaced with throthle?

I got ALL my longer cables made by Motion Pro - they'll make any cable in any length, go ask them!

You could move your carb closer to the front of the bike....thus creating more slack or you could ignore my posts...sadly there is no block facility on here

This is where in the old days you could take your old cables into a dealership and go through their stock and find a set which are longer.....hard work nowadays

I did too, for 3"-longer cables - which work superb?

Hey - you can try motion pro, that's where I got my custom length cables from - they will make any cable to any length.

I was mocking your attempt to tell the guy to use Motion Pro

From my post in Mod Squad, 3 1/2" risers and tall ATV bars with stock cables, no problems.

Solved my problem in laziest way possible


Removed lower nut what gives me even freeplay. Risers are 5cm.
