Riding conditions west NW of Albuquerque/Rio Rancho (east of San Ysidro) in central NM on our way to Cabezon Peak and Guadalupe Ruins were excellent! 2 thumbs

Normally I ride northern NM where I live, but the terrain is much higher elevation and is currently snowed in. So instead of braving the cold, we trailered our bikes south toward an area northwest of Albuquerque. It is mainly public BLM land surrounded by indian reservations.

It was my nephew Kevin's first ride down here in NM, and we were lent a trailer so that we could trailer two bikes down to our starting point.

Our starting point was the White Rim bike trail just about a mile south of San Ysidro. Given that it was a midweek ride, it was not
unusual that some of the NM riders couldn't make it because of work.

This is a small report for those in the Rockies region to show that there are some areas down in central NM w/o snow...northern NM where I live has snow on trails.

Here we are about to leave for the loop:

I rode the BRP and Kevin the XRL:

I have gas strapped to my bike, as my range is only about 90 miles on the BRP w/ stock tank. Santa is late, and I'll be getting my new
Clarke tank in January. Yesterday we logged 107 miles:

Nice photo op for my bike (ignore that nasty strapped extra fuel container):

Cabezon. It's a very old volcano plug:

From there we went on to the ancient ruins on top of these plateaus:

It was getting close to 3PM and shadows were getting long. It was time to head back down to the bikes and head home:

Overall, it was really perfect riding conditions, and quite enjoyable to show someone around the area. Kevin has promised to repay
the favor back up in CO....looking forward to it.

Nice, glad someone is getting out riding and doesn't have snow or too much wet.

Where in VA do guys ride? Out here lots of places (open desert, woods and mountain tracks), but right now northern half of single- double-track part of the state has too much snow...
