Gas coming out of over flow tube
Hello. I cranked my 2006 XR650R today for the first time since I had knee surgery. My bike cranked easy enough. Now I have gas coming out of the over flow tube? It ran good and idled after it warmed up. I assume my float is stuck? Thanks in advance for any help. The gas is running out even when not cranked if I have gas turned on.

Does sound like your float jet not sealing....maybe your fuel has gone old and blocked it...sounds like a strip down or switch fuel off drain the bowl and remove it.....you might be able to clear the seat without removing the carb....?
How long has the fuel been in there ?

Re: Gas coming out of over flow tube
sounds like your float is stuck - before disassembling just try a couple of good taps with the handle of a hammer. Might just be stuck once and be fine afterwards. Otherwise follow advice above.

open petcock vew seconds, close it again, start motor until it almost run out of gas you open the petcock again. do that a vew times and most of the time its ok again if its not stuck to much ofcourse.
tapping the gaschamber works also many times

Thanks for the advice, Rikco. Tapping wasn't working, but your method worked after repeating the process about 15 times.

Would be a good idea to remove the carb and give it a clean out though.
If there was enough crap in there to stick the float assy then there'll be enough crap in there to block a jet, surely.
Especially if its been sitting around for some time.
Just my 2 cents.
