I like mine , it works better than the flimsy OEM oil filling cap , the temperature meter just a nice bonus .

Re: XR's Only Temp Dip Stick
I have no real problems with the stock cap just the threads do catch the frame threads and bind every now and again...making you think it's cross threaded......I don't worry about oil levels as unlike you lot I change my oil & filter every 6 or 7 trips around the trip meter or 700KM....oil & filter are cheap and it's more of a mess changing the oil than hassle lol.....plus I can sleep at night knowing she is all topped up with shiney oil.

Britons, don't you just love 'em....... for eons happy with furlongs per fortnight, stones and pounds, and have zero problem to inch closer to today's time with Fahrenheit on their dials.
I say, my dear fellows, you've ever have heard of ISO maybe?

Oh Maus', there's more dudes than you who change oil overly frequently. I know of an idjit in SA who has done it after one trip even, albeit it was a 3 days riding one.
Maybe we2 should start thinking of a market for nigh-on-new oil still?

Re: XR's Only Temp Dip Stick
Ive had one in my XRR for about 3 years, without radiator guards or a fan it sits on around 160 F just cruising around. Flogging the shit out of her 200-210 F oil temp.
Put a dot of liquid paper on 200 to make it easier to read

What does yours read when the engine is cold ?, mine seems higher than it should be.

That's Fahrenheit for you
Calibrate it, I think I read this was possible in some way. Mind though, I'd rather have it accurate around 100 degrees - Celsius of course

Re: XR's Only Temp Dip Stick
so guys, it means that if our bike reach 110 or 120 Celcius, is she overheating? sometimes when it is really hot in summer days in Canada (like a couple of weeks ago), I have seen mine around there as per the vapor reading from the radiator hose pick up. so do we have to shut down the bike when it reaches that 120 Celcius reading?
